Read what parents are saying about Franco American SchoolThere is so much to say about why I love this school! The teachers are fabulous. They challenge these kids but are also very caring. Students are very well prepared for high school and beyond. The curriculum is always being updated - We have a brand new reading program, new technology, a relatively new math program, etc. Former FAS students are on the honor roll and dean's list at all sorts of area high schools and colleges. The school is still run by the Sisters of Charity, so there also is a wonderful emphasis on faith. There are lots of extracurricular opportunities for these kids, too - soccer, cross country, basketball, cheerleading, and track. There's also intramural basketball, kickball, and bowling for younger kids. My kids also participate in choir, the engineering club after school, violin, and piano. Students who qualify academically also have the opportunity to be in a leadership and service group in middle school called Beta Club. This school offers wonderful opportunities for the students to grow academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. We love it here!
Posted by a parent on 1/14/2016These kids are being challenged academically without being overwhelmed. Students graduate from here and do really well in high school. It seems like all of them end up on the honor roll at Lowell Catholic, NDA, Central Catholic, Lowell High, etc. Their standardized test scores this year were in the 70th percentile nationally, which is much higher than other Catholic schools around here and higher than the scores of many of the Boston Catholic schools. My son's friends are going to some great schools next year, and many of them received academic scholarships. If strong academics is what you want for your money, then Franco American School is the place for you.
Posted by a community member on 6/1/2015Franco is a great choice for your child's education. This year they purchased a new reading program and it is working out very nicely for students. Children are challenged but also feel cared for and nurtured. Class sizes are small which is another benefit.
Posted by a community member on 1/7/2015This is a wonderful school for smaller children. The Pre-k to grade 2 program is wonderful! It is academically strong but there are very few extra curricular activities for older children outside of a few sports programs. The website lists many sports programs that no longer exist. Outside field trips are minimal for grades 2-5 and often not relevant. Overall it's a decent school but there are better choices for older children.
Posted by a parent on 9/21/2014I am very impressed with the education offered at Franco American School. All of the teachers are wonderful and are very approachable. Students are challenged and are well rounded.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLCCPS is an amazing school! they have high academic standards and they value all cultures and people. Each group is no more than 25 students which allows a more personalized attention to each child. My kids love going to school every day. It is a great community that we will miss when our kids finish middle school.Parent Review1y ago - Charlotte M Murkland Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot a parent, but I’m a former student who graduated from this school circa 2012 who is now a university student. Based on my experiences, I’m rating this school a one-star because some of the teachers are too serious regarding the tone they speak in and communicate with students. They’re teaching children, what are they expecting them to be? Have fully developed brains and act mature? I understand that children need to behave, but yelling at them and embarrassing them in front of the class isn’t going to help and will probably make them a bullying target. From what I recall, the teaching curriculum was okay-ish. Although, the teachers weren’t very helpful when it came to class assignments. The teachers also weren’t very friendly like I mentioned before, making it intimidating to ask them for help.Other Review1y ago - Greenhalge Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have ten years of public school teaching experience K-12 and Greenhalge Elementary School in Lowell, MA is by far the best! How do I love thee Greenhalge Elementary? Let me count the ways. When my child has an issue, not only do they address it, they create a focus group run by one of the school’s amazing social workers, keep in contact with updates, send home handouts with suggestions and worksheets, create and implement a plan to fix the problem. If the issue persists they put you in contact with a therapy connect agency that works tirelessly until you find the perfect therapist for your child. Classrooms have multiple teachers and support. My child was placed in one of three reading groups perfect for her level. She is reading everything I put in front of her and she is in second grade!!!! My Kindergartener is also reading. These amazing teachers are dealing with 39% ESL and challenging my child at the same time. I feel heard and welcomed by the principal and supporting staff. I am in the PTO and site council and all my suggestions have been heard and most of them have already happened. We are getting a new playground, implementing a recycling program, choosing assembly guests, creating monthly community events, and it’s fun. We even got the Mayor to come to one of our events! We have a free dental and vision program as well as free breakfast and lunch. If you need before school or afterschool programs they will find you one. They even provide christmas presents to kids to families that can’t afford them. Do not judge this school by their test scores!! They are dealing with 39% ELL, most of these students are new to our country and dealing with so much more than just learning english. I love the diversity of our Greenhalge family. The teachers are able to give these kids the support they need while getting my child to an accelerated level. They already have ESL classes for adults and one of my suggestions for next year is to offer Portuguese and Spanish Classes so we can practice and communicate with the other parents. I am so excited to learn a new language. My child has never been bullied. In the two years she has been at Greenhalge she has never been bullied, it seems impossible, but it’s true. If you're looking for the best school for your kids, look no further. All of the teachers and Staff at Greenhalge Elementary School deserve raises and major awards.Parent Review1y ago - Pawtucketville Memorial Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had 2 students at this school, one from pre-k to 8, the other k to 8. One on the autism spectrum. Both have done really well at this school. One is now in college, after graduating in the top ten in his high school class, which speaks well of how the Bartlett prepared him for high school. After an initial battle to get the one with autism special ed services, which was mostly an issue with the school department's central office, not the school staff, the school staff really stepped up with coming up with effective service plans. Good communication from the school to parents. I really have no complaints about the education my kids got here.Parent Review2y ago - Lowell Day Nursery School
