This is a school with poor leadership. I agree with the previous reviewer that the principal is widely disliked. She is very difficult. If you have concerns, she will let you talk but expect no action. She tolerates ineffective teachers, and will just blame your child, the pandemic, or anything else

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a joke! The best thing that happened to this school is Mr. Timothy Garvey. They have the worst staff and facility you’d ever experience. Their special education department is a joke so are the counselors. They are always in non compliance for not following IEP’s. And let’s not forget that every week they have their hands out for money and host bogus fundraisers. Those children raise thousands of dollars and never go on field trips! I have had experiences with two other Jewish days schools in Connecticut, and LYA is much better in every respect. I highly recommend this school for anybody looking for a Jewish education. Upon entering K we were provided little to no support as we worked through difficulties that started when we started K. Due to the lack of engagement from the teacher and principal, and the fact that the overall experience was giving our child nightmares, we decided to go elsewhere. It was the best decision. It might be a great school if you're OK with little communication/engagement and don't need any help - otherwise, I suggest going elsewhere for a Catholic education.Parent Review1y ago
