Read what parents are saying about Northwest Elementary SchoolIt's taken me a long time to write this, but this school was downright awful to my child. My daughter had some anxiety and sensory difficulties going on which made her uncomfortable speaking with people she doesn't know, teachers were very unaccommodating and downright disrespectful and rude. One instance in particular I had gone to a parent teacher conference and was walking alongside my daughter where one of the teachers commented "oh look its the mute" I'm guessing because it took a long time for my daughter to get comfortable with someone before engaging; not knowing I was with my daughter at the time. This school is absolutely disgusting. My daughter being only in 1st grade, how do you comment and bully a child like that? If children are struggling or are having certain issues or disabilities do you bully them? Apparently at this school you do. No wonder my daughter felt uncomfortable talking to any of you because you were bullying her the entire time making disgusting comments. You're a school with TEACHERS who are supposed to help children --> not bully and make nasty comments. Once my daughter did switch schools she was a completely different kid. Do better, Northwest.

Posted by a parent on 9/26/2023We moved from another city, and so far, my kids are having a great experience with their teachers and new friends. Will be checking back at the end of the school to do another review.
Posted by a parent on 9/26/2023We love Northwest. For the most part, our experiences with teachers and staff have been positive. One of my favorite things is how small the school is. Our children are known, by name, by most of the staff. They actually care about our kids.
Posted by a parent on 9/21/2018This School is a JOKE!! the kids are GHETTO as well as the whole school! Kids act like MONKEYS! 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter has been at this school for two years. She is truly not gaining anything by being at South Street other than a participation award. We have reached out to her teachers regarding concerns we have and get nowhere. There's no communication or parent involvement. There isn't a lot of extracurricular activities. For any events (like a school dance or if there's a book fair) there's very short notice. There is more focus on behavioral issues than education. Fitchburg is definitely a low income city and there are a lot of parents who don't care about their children's behavior which definitely reflects on how the teachers run their classrooms. There's a focus on the kids flipping desks over and swearing and no focus on the kids that are trying to learn. Students are being influenced to succeed.Parent Review5y ago - St Bernards Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has had a wonderful experience at this school. We have a new principal who has accomplished so much in her first year! She is very approachable and open to new ideas. Our children are held to a high standard which will help them to succeed later in life. The teachers expect a lot from the children but are always available for extra help if need be. There is a huge sense of community at this school. The kids are taught charity, respect and responsibility. My kids get excited to help others. They love being involved in different activities including sports, drama, and student council. We are so glad we made the choice to send our children here.Parent Review8y ago - St. Anna School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy family has been at St Anna for 8 years. Our 3 kids have been at st Anna’s since prek3 and been in grades all through elementary. We have had a great experience overall and even when issues have arisen we’ve been given attention and opportunity to resolve any issues it might come along. Father Carlos and the Principal with the whole staff has been amazing to help us with any concerns. The curriculum is amazing, the Parish is very supportive of the school and all my kids have made wonderful friends. My kids looks forward for church day and totally respect us as a parent even more. I have no complains regarding this school, it’ll be sad when my kids have to leave when they reach 8th grade. The only down side of it, is that they don’t have high school for our kids!Parent Review11mo ago - Julie Country Day School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has been at St. Leo's for 5 years. The school community is exceptional. Our family has formed what I know will be enduring friendships both for us as parents and among the children. My daughter is being taught to have a love for learning together with strong values which are so important during these impressionable years and cannot be found in the public school system. This is truly a school which focuses on developing the 'whole child.' As I am not catholic, I never expected to be so accepted, and so pleased with the education my child is getting.Parent Review8y ago - St Anthony School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNew administration has started in 2017. A lot of change that families are struggling with. I hope the changes work in the future but we removed our children based on a number of disagreements. In the end, it was the best choice since we are still having issues with tuition reimbursement from the school.Parent Review7y ago - St Bernard Elementary
