Read what parents are saying about Sacred Heart Of Jesus Elementary SchoolThis is our child's third year at Sacred Heart School, and we could not be happier with the quality of education she is receiving as well as her development into a caring, compassionate person. We have always felt that the teachers and administration have an open door policy, and will be available to discuss anything with you. The teachers, thus far, have been amazing. The dedication to the school, and children is evident, and their ability to teach to the child as a whole rather than to a test is exactly what we were looking for in an education for our child. I have to say I am disappointed in the one review with one star because it seems as thought the rating was based on the fees/tuition that is required, but it is a given when you choose to send your child to a private school. Our family has felt that the amount of tuition we pay is well worth the investment.
Posted by a parent on 8/28/2012I enrolled my daughter, because we are Catholic and we are not happy with our area school. SHS was very welcoming. The class sizes are great. The teachers are the best part! Now what I didn't like. If you want to get out of paying a $500 fee, as a parent, you have to volunteer doing Bingo, the Fall Festival, and various other activities. I couldn't do it, I had to work. There are a lot of expences for trips, fund raisers, needed supplies, costumes that you have to purchase. Also, the hot lunch choises, I was very unhappy with. towards the end of the year S HS switched to Papa Gino's with some days of only meat selections. My child hates meats and loved salad. So, I wasn't happy with this. Very unhealthy, for a private school trying to promote healthy eating habits. They always wanted money from us! The uniforms are ourtagiously overpriced. You can only get them at one location, which is ridiculous. My child had peoblems with bullying at the school, and she was in one of the lower grades. The way the school is run, is not to my liking. I went to a great catholic school, and loved it. SHS is run in a much different way. The education is the only thing great about it.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a recent alumni of HFA (Class of 2019!) I was very happy with my experience there. We were taught with morals and many teachers, especially in the higher grades were very helpful and would try their best to ensure your success. However, during my time there, many young teachers came and went due to the low pay. This means that any future students will probably have much more teachers than I did. The school is very close-knit due to its size as well (My graduating class was made of 16, the ones before us only had 8). I will admit that the school did not have a very effective Special Education course however. There were few tutors and most families were forced to hire outside independent help. However, HFA is a top pick among schools for students who are interest in enrolling in St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, MA, one of the only Catholic High Schools in the area, as well as Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School (Monty Tech) where I am currently enrolled now. There are bus services but basic ones. One thing I definitely miss was the ability to have recess Pre-School through 8th grade. When I was enrolled, there was no cafeteria. We ate in our homeroom class. However, sometimes the church next door will lend the basement and stage to the school to use for assemblies and lunch. There were extracurricular activities such as an After School Program, a Ski club in which students are bussed to Wachusett Ski Resort in the Winter, Chess Club, Robotics and introductory STEM courses, a Choir, Student Council and Government Programs, Chess, Girls on the Run, and a Drama Club. Their is a Spring Musical that is presented each year by the Drama Club, who have been using the Theater at the Mount stage for the last 4 years. Some Pros Are: Good teachers, small environment, good leadership and character, extracurricular programs, and work ethic. Cons are: Tuition, limited for students who need special ed, not may teachers, Bullying can go unnoticed in some occasions due to it being mislabeled as "friendly banter" among classes, and sometimes it can be very difficult to raise money for student field trips and fundraisers.Other Review3y ago - The Master's Christian Academy
