Read what parents are saying about Center Elementary SchoolMy son has been at the school for three years. Great atmosphere. The PTO does a fantastic job working with the school to create an inviting environment.I just wish the district made a greater effort to keep class sizes closer to 20 then mid- to upper-20s.

Posted by a parent on 12/13/2016Center was the first elementary school my kids attended. I'll never forget the dedicated teachers who greatly contributed to my children's education and growth. The school has a balanced curriculum that blends the arts, science, math, music, and other subject matter. The school was proactive in getting families involved in school activities. My only qualm about the school is that it had a bit of a bully problem. I would inform the school office, but nothing was appearing to remedy these recurring incidents. Attending a different school and away from the bully factor, my children have blossomed and have quickly made friends. There were certainly positives about Center Elementary, but also areas of concern.
Posted by a parent on 1/27/2015I find that the teachers at this school are caring and supportive. I am glad that my child is attending center school. School administration is very accessible. I have heard from some parents that their school system gives hardly any homework for the youngest grades. Every week, my child's teacher at center has a homework pack that must be turned in at the end of the week. I have few suggestions: 1) Remind drivers to stop when a school bus stop sign is activated, with perhaps some measure of enforcement. 2) Recommend that the school better identify and communicate needed areas of funding. For instance, colleges and universities allow people to donate online to well defined initiatives. A recommendation is to have a method for parents to donate for specific areas like school supplies and technology. 3) Instead of e-mailing survey notifications that can be sent to spam, perhaps the school can post an online survey, allowing for continuous feedback. 4) Encourage greater use of online posting of homework files. This would allow parents to review previous homework.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot a parent, but I’m a former student who graduated from this school circa 2012 who is now a university student. Based on my experiences, I’m rating this school a one-star because some of the teachers are too serious regarding the tone they speak in and communicate with students. They’re teaching children, what are they expecting them to be? Have fully developed brains and act mature? I understand that children need to behave, but yelling at them and embarrassing them in front of the class isn’t going to help and will probably make them a bullying target. From what I recall, the teaching curriculum was okay-ish. Although, the teachers weren’t very helpful when it came to class assignments. The teachers also weren’t very friendly like I mentioned before, making it intimidating to ask them for help.Other Review1y ago - Washington Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot be happier with my family's experience at the Washington School!!! The school felt like home as soon as I walked in. My children loved their teachers from pre-K to 4th grade. It is a very strong school academically and the dedication of each and every teacher is a reason for celebration in my opinion. During our first few years in the school, we were constantly hearing rumors about the school closing and then Mrs. Cunningham appeared and it was a game changing moment for the Washington School. She fought for this school tooth and nail! Soon we got a new roof, new boiler, and new windows... She still didn't get tired and we got new fencing around the school and a whole new renovated bathroom!!! I have spent a lot of time inside the school helping whenever possible or necessary and these students are kept busy the entire day. The school might be small but the effective use of every inch of the school is amazing and the living proof of that is the amazing Mr. Z. He is one of the best PE teachers I have ever seen and my kids absolutely adore him. To top it off, the school has one of the BEST MCAS score in the district!!!!! And that is a FACT for so many years that always makes me wonder "how do these teachers do it?" The Washington School is Lowell's rare gem, hidden, formed by caring, professional, and experienced people working hard for every single kid I have known there. We are proud to be part of it!Parent Review4y ago - Greater Visions Childrens Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey never respond back on enquiries, that's very absurd for a child care. I would never put my kids this day care as they don't care to respond you. That raises a huge red flag.Parent Review2y ago - St Margaret Elementary School
