Meeting House Montessori School

MHMS has been a terrific experience for both of our children. They have learned to work independently, take on responsibility, function as a community, but to accept and celebrate individual differences. The diverse school allows kids to work at their own pace, but has older kids serve as role models guiding younger kids. It's amazing how quiet the pre primary classes are: the kids take their work very seriously! The elementary program keeps key elements of Montessori but adds components to make transition to other schools after 5th grade easier. The kids do their own homework with no parental helicoptering needed. By 5th grade, they work 1-2 grades ahead of the requirements of most other schools, even the privates. The use of laptops for most work by 4th grade puts kids well ahead of many adults I know. Public speaking starting at age 3, world geography, study of all cultures, algebra in 3rd grade, strong writing component. All the things public school students used to need to know before it was all dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. Well worth the tuition, a bargain compared to other less effective programs. The only drawback is the school's modesty: they don't promote all the wonderful things they do or community they've created. Agree with the other poster, Braintree's best kept secret!!!

MHMS is the best investment to make in your child's education. We relocated here from Alabama and needed to find a montessori school rather quickly. From the moment we stepped foot in the door and met with Stephen Putnam, the director we were sold. Stephen, Caren, and the whole teaching staff have a genuine interest in every child which is very refreshing. Academics is strong,the tuition is very reasonable in comparision to many other schools, and the staff is very accommodating to your individual needs. They have truly been a huge blessing to our family and I would highly recommend their school to anyone.
