Read what parents are saying about Murphy K-8 SchoolMy child went to this school from grade 1 to grade 6. The teachers are incredibly disrespectful and entitled to themselves. The principal is incredibly disrespectful and only seems to care about how the school is portrayed. The principal puts up an act of kindness and respect, in reality she tries to make the school seem diverse and a safe area to be taught in. There have been bullets found in the playground, vapes, and numerous fights have gone on in the building during school hours.

Posted by a community member on 7/12/2023My children have all one through the Advanced Work Program at the Murphy and I can't say enough about how great it is! Ms Baldi is one of the most amazing teachers my children have ever had. She pushes students to achieve all they can. The other AWC teachers my kids have had have all been great also. My only issues with this school are they don't deal with bullying effectively and the principal doesn't seem all that interested in the school.
Posted by a parent on 3/6/2018The Richard Murphy use to be an excellent school! My son has been attending the school since he entered K2 and is now an 8th grade student at the school. I have to agree with a rating that someone gave the school on Google, the principal now walks around in high heels talking to the kids (some kids) any old kind of way. By experience I know she will call me saying we need to meet because my son this or that, to then have to come out and YES APOLOGIZE because she did not take the time to get a full story before she calls wanting to suspend a student. I have heard my son and a few friends complain about how she speaks to students, yelling in their faces. In regards to Teachers, I must say the majority that I have dealt with throughout the years have been really good, one here and there but overall teachers, location are good. You could walk in the office and the office staff are talking about their personal business and will not greet you and acknowledge you immediately, they finish their personal conversation before one will say, Can I help you?
Posted by a parent on 2/6/2014This school is IMPOSSIBLE to get into, especially if you live IN the actual neighborhood. Try to get a seat, but don't expect to get in... unless you live on the other side of Dorchester.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI currently have 2 students that attend NHCS. One in middle school and the other graduating from high school. When my children first attended the school In elementary I truly loved the school. This year my child started middle. This is the first time since my children have attended the school that I am not happy. The principal of the middle runs it like a BPS school. He doesn’t encourage teacher parent relationship, he is ok with living children outside alone with no adult supervision, and the middle school doesn’t have a special education teacher. Therefore my child and other child have falling behind academic. Some of the teachers have nasty attitudes towards parents and students. I am strongly concerning pull my child out of this school and maybe trying later for high school!Parent Review5mo ago - Codman Academy Charter Public School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have a young child at Lower and we love it. The teachers are caring across the board. We get daily reports on progress with our child. She's been going through toddler phases and I feel like she's in such good hands. Its a small school so everyone knows each other. I love the sense of community. What I love most is the open communication. It is very easy to receive updates on the happenings at the school. It feels like a small community. I'm happy with it across the board. Each class has a air purifier, for COVID. There is PPE and I feel like they are keeping the school sanitary as well. Overall, its a great school. You will like it for your child. My child is young so some of the reviews like Homework, I'm neutral. We haven't had an experiences with bullying. May of the admin are at Upper. The schools present as different worlds-- because very little kids and older kids. The Leadership at Lower is amazing as is the staff.Parent Review2y ago - Thomas J. Kenny School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat school. I used to go here. Infact, I would be a pretty good student here. there were all types of people and personality’s. It was fun to walk into school and see what would go down, or what crazy and exciting stuff the teachers would do. Sometimes, kids who finished at that school would come and visit at the end of the day. And principal bryan(t? so sorry if i spelt it wrong) was an amazing principal. Great work. There were small mishaps here and there and silly elementary drama, but it was mostly solved or forgotten, Great school with good opportunities, yet, making friends can be hard, coinciding is great.Other Review1y ago - Lee Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers are not attentive. The students are rude, mishaved, and disrespectful. The food is not good/healthy. The school layout is not very good. The school is in need of serious repairs; there are many leaks, broken radiators, and broken windows. Students were able to break in to the school. Also, 5th and 6th grade are in the cold basement.Parent Review6y ago
