My daughter ....this is her first year and has been having a great high school experience at Beverly High School so far. The teachers quality and also the principal is great. Our family is very pleased with BHS. Honors and AP classes are offered, art, music, drama, clubs and sports teams. Great place to learn, BHS.Posted by a parent on 11/6/2014
My child is in the second semester of his Sophomore year and has been having a great high school experience at Beverly High School. So far he has received a very well rounded educational experience for the college bound student. Teachers are accessible and responsive to parents; broad course selection; many offerings for extra curricular activities to meet most interests of engaged students - art, music, drama, clubs and sports teams. State of the art building with a focus on creating a small learning community within the larger high school setting.Posted by a parent on 3/19/2014
Like one of the other posters mentioned, BHS is what you make it and how the student applies themselves. My daughter is a senior now and it's shocking to me that seniors are let out right before noon so the school saves money. I am concerned that that BHS doesn't properly prepare the student for college and worry about the transition in the Fall. Nice facility and a caring principal but at times it feels like its a country club and lacking in rigor. Applying for college with her guidance counselor fell short too in what we expected as they seem to lack a sense of urgency in sending out the documentation to schools and in using a proper student resume format.Posted by a parent on 1/15/2014

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 children at this school and overall I would say that, for a public school, it is probably better than average. The faculty, administration, and staff seem to care about the kids and the kids (including mine) seem to be pretty happy overall. I do think, though, that there are things that could be improved. Class time is not always spent productively. For example, the teachers sometimes show non-educational movies as a "reward." Even if one accepts the idea of showing a movie during school hours, why not at least show an educational movie? (the kids will still see it as a reward). In fact, I was surprised to learn from one of my kids that her class watched Mary Poppins (the movie) during class time shortly after spending several hours watching Mary Poppins the play performed by the 5th grade students. How is that a good use of class time? Also, communication about your child's progress is not consistent from teacher to teacher (some communicate a lot, some hardly at all) and the report cards don't offer much information about how your child is performing compared to his/her peers.Parent Review9y ago

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy school is Thorpe school. I am grateful to the staff and most of all Mrs. Tricca. My child started kindergarden this year. I was nervous that my control over what she sees and hears and the different believes is all but gone. The staff has made that a little less terrifying for me. The info sessions are helpful. The flyers they send home are very helpful as I am a single mother with a full time job. And last but not least Mrs. Tricca. My daughter is engaged and excited about school which I can only attribute to her teacher. I can only imagine it is difficult to manage let alone teach 20+ 5 and 6 year olds. She is also very responsive to my questions and answers in a timely manner and is bringing me along thru this difficult first step in letting go. So Thorpe school is great. I wouldn't change a thing.Parent Review7y ago
