Great elementary schools. Ok middle school. Good high school. Average - above average public school education. Recent changes at the high school should have positive effect.

What baffles me is why we have the highest property tax rates in the states and the worst school system. Shouldn't our tax dollars be spent on our childrens education rather than an overly staffed and unnecessary police force?
Posted by a parent on 7/22/2013I would never put any child that wants a normal high school experience at amesbury if the administration doesn't like you they are out to get you. I would suggest going to the town next over newburyport because it has better academics and a much stronger athletic program.

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been at AES from 1st to 4th grade and is moving on to the middle school next year. He is very bright but has special needs and has really struggled at this school. We have had to work hard to get some of his teachers to follow his IEP and we have not always been happy about the way discipline has been handled. The curriculum has not been creative or engaging and even though my son spends 6 hours a day there, we have to spend hours more at home, after homework, teaching him basic math skills that he is not getting at school.Parent Review15y ago - Charles C Cashman Elementary

The Principal is the most dishonest human being on earth. I have no idea how she sleeps at night. Education is not her priority. My daughter went here and her self confidence went way down after numerous teachers bullied her.
