Read what parents are saying about Zachary High SchoolHorrible... 4 of my 5 no problem except for my daughter who has been a honor student and nominated for student of the year learning that her teacher didn't like her because she's black. No problems until 1 of them fell behind and I saw him go from a student to a target! Everything in Zachary high is separated by race, and money... I can say that even white people who make less money are treated the same as the blacks. If your child can't keep up their high test scores they will be treated like they are blacks too! Sitting in their office one day next to a student who had the nerve to tell me that their schools would not stay number 1 because of people like me moving to Zachary so that their kids can go to school. Where did she learn that from and the nerve of this child to say this to ME! These are the type of kids at Zachary high, this is the view of the staff and students from my experience. I wish I hadn't lived here all my life because my kids are being taught about race and class young just getting up and going to school.

Posted by a community member on 11/15/2017We moved here almost 2 years ago and have been extremely pleased with Zachary schools. We are so glad our kids are finally being asked to perform at a higher level and would definitely recommend this school district to anyone who wants their children to be successful in academia.
Posted by a community member on 11/28/2016There is zero accountability within the Zachary Community School System. They care more about being #1 than the welfare of their students. Everything revolves around politics and the importance of the school's image. Their focus for the school year is prepping for the state test. Outside of that they are not taught much. Zachary students are not taught to use critical thinking skills and the admins have no desire to foster the spirit of the individual. They would prefer it if all students dressed alike, thought alike, and acted alike. Now that being said, there are good teachers who care within the school system. They do have an excellent program for gifted/talented students. The honors program could use some work and their selection of electives are decent. Zachary Schools are #1 and should be. They study for nothing but the test until around Mar./April and they are the only school within the system since they had themselves separated from East Baton Rouge Parish. Zachary is highly overrated. Claiming you're #1 in a state that ranks 49th nationally does not seem much of an achievement.
Posted by a parent on 11/8/2013It has fantastic teachers and staff that will help you with anything. Whether it's in school or out of school, you will always have somebody there for you. That's one thing I really adore about Zachary High School. One thing I think others should know about my school is that we are number 1 in the state the past 9 years. We work hard, we study hard, and we don't mess around. We get right to business. Our principal Mr. Watts is an amazing guy. He does so many different things for all the students. For example, at one of our pep-rally's. He rented a helicopter and flew onto the football field and he got DJ Earl from 94.1 to come to the pep-rally. Zachary High School isn't just about education, it's about living your life. But we do have amazing teachers that help us understand our education purposes!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended this school from pre-k to first grade and loved it. I also volunteered and worked as a sub in several classes and the spec ed class. I can say without hesitation that everyone on staff puts children first. Also they do strive for excellence but not at the cost of safety or to the point of putting stress on the kids. Everyone wants to teach in Zachary because its a great community and because of that we get the best teachers. I know lots of parents who are very happy with Zachary and I think anyone reading the comments below should know that it does not at all reflect the majority or is it true. 9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI moved #1 because of said school district. As my child as move through school beginning in Northwestern grade K I have increasingly become disappointed. Is it better than most EBR schools, the answer is yes. But the teachers and substitutes at Zachary Elementary that I have interacted with are very abrasive in how they speak with parents and kids on a frequent. The principal patronizing techniques with overbearing undertones to communicate. I guess the teachers get their ways from her. Honestly I don't think we will make it it to Copper Mill - I hear it's even worse. The juice is not worth the squeeze- I'll be looking into private school or home schooling my child.Parent Review2mo ago - Copper Mill Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI moved to Zachary or the schools, and I will stay in Zachary because of the teachers. I have two children in school, and every year, the teachers make a point to connect with me throughout the year. They seem to care for each student. The mantra in these schools is "Do your best". I went to an awards ceremony yesterday, and more than one teacher said on the podium that they tell their children they will go on to greater achievements, and in doing that, they are pushing them half the distance to that goal. The schools are different than what I went through. These are not K - 6, they are the whole population of Zachary in two year schools - Copper Mill is 5th and 6th grade. Rollins Place is 1st and 2nd, Zachary Elementary is 3rd and 4th grade.Parent Review8y ago - Trinity Christian Academy
