This is the best elementary school in Lafayette Parish. The administration and teachers set the pace for the students. They engage with the students and care deeply about the kids. The academics are excellent, as reflected in the test scores and AR reading program (which is first rate, by the way). Nevertheless, the faculty assigns a manageable amount of homework...much appreciated by the parents. The school also offers kids many extra-curricular activities to help round out their experience. In all, EG is a first rate school that is a the very top of Lafayette Parish. I am thankful that my children were able to attend.

Wonderful school with caring & compassionate employees. My daughter & son had the sweetest bonds with their Teachers & office staff. We have 1 more year at Ernest Gallet and we are all sad about leaving everyone behind to go to middle school. We are so very grateful for this school. We couldn't ask for better! The Parks Family

My child is finishing Kindergarden this year and we have only good things to say about the school. School did everything they could to offer education as close to normal as possible this crazy 2020-2021 school year. Teacher stayed in touch with us whole time and was always available to answer questions (this is our first child going to school so we had move questions than average family). They did activities with kids at school for the holidays to keep kids engaged and excited. Took yearly pictures and so on. My son did not know all his letter when he went to school. He loves numbers and is very good at math, but letters was not his thing. Now he is in AR and reads his books daily. We went from 2 hours per book to 12 books in 1 hour within 2 month time. They did several different activities with kids to motivate them to read and it sure worked for Maxwell. There are comments from prior years where parents complaining about little snacks that kids take to school & comparing it to Texas. We are in the process of relocating to Texas and know first hand how much school taxes are there. After paying 10k per year in tax per property, I am not surprised to see schools providing snacks. Property tax in LA is 10 times less, so I do think that extra 10 dollars per month on quality snacks is not that big of a burden. Also, it is not a big deal if you are on time sending those with your kid and teachers do not have to chase you down. We lived in Youngsville for 6 years now and there is no better elementary school in the area.

We moved from Texas and I was looking all over lafayette to see what school was good so that I could put my child in. This school came up and I thought wow it seems great. Then I started noticing that they wanted money for EVERYTHING and I mean everything from snacks to events to everything the only free thing they offer is education (which isn't as advanced as Texas). There were many times a month when my child's classroom didn't eat snacks because other parents wouldn't pitch in so the ones who did take snacks had to take double and triple snacks a month. It wasn't fair at all for the parents who care if their child eats. Then my child's teacher quits or gets fired (they never said) I found out 2 months later that there was a sub there the entire time. They never sent out a letter or anything. I had to call and speak with the principal and she finally said they were going to send one out... Yea 2 months later? Wow I couldn't believe it. Kindergarten only got ONE field trip! JUST ONE!! those poor kids were only taken to the zoo which is down the street. One for the whole school year. The last fun year for them for their entire school years were cut short because this horrible school only planned one darn field trip for them. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because the staff in the office are very nice ladies. I'm so glad we are going back to Texas where the schools are much better. I feel bad for the ppl who have to stay there until 5th grade. I would consider moving houses just so they could go to a different school better than Gallet.

My wife and I went to this school yesterday. Since we will relocated to Lafayette soon, we are looking for a good elementary school for our kid. And we plan to set down our family nearby. Youngsville is a good place, but the Ernest Gallet School Elementary is not a good school, even I can call it terrible. The experience we had yesterday is terrible. As reviewed by the other parents, the front desk lady should be call RUDE. She does not know how to respect parents even the kids who are sitting in her office. I've been the other elementary schools before we came here, for example Woodvale, Broadmoor, their staff shows us how well they treat parents and their students, and I can see their teaching philosophy from the behavior. But Ernest Gallet shows us how bad they treat parents and students. I have met several of their staff, but they just stared at us seriously without smile. Indeed, they have new buildings, large library, and beautiful classroom. But I do not believe they have nice and well-educated staff and teachers. Then, how can they teach and educate excellent students? We will never send our kids to this school.
