Read what parents are saying about Galvez Primary SchoolNostalgia would be a great way to begin with my perception of Galvez Primary along with Ascension Parish in general. Three years later, I have come to realize that the true value of each child’s education is nothing more than a number to administration. A number for high test scoring performance and ensuring that their perfect “A” rating remains in tact and funding is received to continue this cycle of “no child left behind”. There isn’t a set plan of action to those that need accommodations to increasing their actual learning performance. Academics aren’t the focal point. Standardized testing scores are and if you truly valued yourself as a solid educational system, then you would have a better system in place to help each individual child to reach their full potential. Instead, I will give you the same advice provided on your piece of paper with grades to the children who are getting left behind and are “failing”…… “Try harder”. As a professional, it’s appalling to see your way of improving a child who could need additional help or simply a better environment and rather than take accountability on the part of a failing system, the child is basically told it’s all on them. “Try harder.” Well from the parent that basically has to reiterate all that wasn’t provided in the classroom and we have all of the outside work of the classroom being completed along with the tools and so forth.. My heart hurts for those kids who aren’t getting that support and really begin to have a negative picture of not only their value of education but life, because it’s evident that school is a business and unless those scores are of high ranking and appeasing to administration….the child is in fact left behind. Thanks for providing the full picture of what is valued as we have and I won’t watch my child lose his life long natural ability to learn in a toxic environment. If you value your child’s whole well-being, don’t fall into the nostalgia of assuming this is the same system that we (for those that received an education in Ascension Parish) endured a generally solid education considering living in the state of Louisiana. This is the true definition of insanity and an endless cycle of covering up what’s really under the surface. We deserve better for living in such a highly “prosperous” parish. Support your teachers and staff who actually care and have a gift to truly educate.

Posted by a parent on 6/7/2016My daughter is in 3rd grade and she is doing great. She just transferred this year and she adjusted perfectly. Her teachers did everything to make sure the adjustment was smooth for her and got her on the same page as the rest of the right away. Everyone us nice and overall I have no complaints. She's made honor roll this whole year. :) one happy Mom right here.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI rate this school, definitely with 10 stars, because I have came across some beautiful spirits. Learning is a number one priority at this school. What I can’t take is the way they try to talk and handle grown ups. Safety is always first, but this school has made mistakes, simple ones. The principal need to teach her staff how to respect others, and how to address simple situation's, like not yelling at them and demanding them to do something, what about just simply asking them nice with some RESPECT. I can’t take no one yelling and trying to handle me any kind of way for a miss understanding, especially if you’re lack of knowledge on the situation. Point blank! Other than that, it’s a great school.Parent Review6mo ago - Lakeside Primary School
