Eastside Elementary School

Our experience at this school was extremely disappointing and ultimately led us to withdraw our son midway through second grade.For nearly two years, he was repeatedly bullied for wearing hearing aids/being "different". Despite our concerns, the issue was not effectively addressed. The situation became especially concerning when our son, who is on the autism spectrum and has selective mutism, was disciplined after reacting to ongoing bullying. He was taken to the office and pressured to explain what happened, despite his known communication challenges. When he was unable to respond, he was threatened with punishment and assigned after-school detention.When I spoke with administration and explained that this approach was not appropriate given his needs or the circumstances, I was told he would be suspended if he did not attend detention. At that point, we made the decision to withdraw him immediately and homeschool.After leaving, we purchased a yearbook because he had attended more than half the school year and had taken school photos. When we picked it up, we were told he was not included. We later found that he had been removed from class and group photos, which was deeply upsetting for him.Since then, I have connected with other families who have had similar experiences, and it has reinforced our decision to leave. Our son is now in a much healthier environment.I strongly encourage other parents, especially those with children who have additional needs, to ask detailed questions about how concerns like bullying and communication differences are handled.

Freshwater is the best elementary school you could ever hope your child to attend. The teachers are so loving and helpful. The principal, counselor, and staff are amazing. The librarian is the sweetest person ever. The bus driver is awesome. They have a carnival for the children every year. There are lots of opportunities for parents to be involved. Freshwater will always hold a special place in my family's heart.

Great small neighborhood school where the principle really knows all the kids and cares about each one. Devoted and stable group of teachers who truly love to teach. The office ladies, lunch ladies and custodians have all been there a long time and that means a lot to me when I'm trusting them with my little ones for 8 hrs a day. :)

After taking my son out of public school because of his learning disability and the school not wanting to help. We started to home school and it was the best thing for my son. As he starts high school this year we decided to send hi back to school and we choose CCA. And it has proven to be the best thing we have ever done. In his first week of school he has felt more comfortable about his disability than he has ever felt at school and around others. The teachers and staff have been very accommodating and helpful. We could not ask for anything better. He read out loud with others around his first day of school something he has never done. He is also running for school treasure. He feels so good about himself at CCA. He does not fight with homework or anything like he did the last time he was at a school. The people at CCA are by far the best ever. And we are so glad that we made the decision he send our son to this school. And they deserve so much for the way they help everyone that comes to the school.
