Colfax Elementary School

This school has very poor leadership. The principal isn't an expert on curriculum nor is she the head of discipline. Instead, she runs the school like a landlord handling the business side of things and bullies teachers into doing what she wants. Parents are not invited to many events, and she unprofessionally gossips about parents and staff.

My daughter goes to Colfax Elementary and Thank God that the teachers that she has had have been wonderfu, my daughter is in gifted and she doesn't have problems learning, but I do agree that the school is run down and needs lots of repairs. The decipline in not great and I also agree that there is no saftey.

Colfax Elementary hasn't changed in over 20 years, no updates to buildings, no playground equipment, no new structures. The school is located next to the courthouse and jail, where there was a shootout last year. There has been break ins at the school,where what little the classes had of value was stolen. The community is forced to enroll our children there because of zoning laws. Doesn't matter if the school has the lowest scores in the district. Some "teachers" are not even licensed. Best word to describe the administration staff would be apathetic. If you dare question their policies you can expect some stubborn self righteous indignation. No child should have to attend,but according to the Louisiana Dept of Education the school has to be failing two years on paper before they can step in to rework the school. Ask any parent,this school has been failing right in front of our faces for at least ten years. There are some teachers who try really hard, but they are against overwhelming obstacles. "No child gets left behind" more like "Every child fend for yourself"
