Posted by a parent on 4/5/2019We've enjoyed this school! The teachers are engaging with the students and parents. The principal really cares about her school and has taken steps to make improvements since she started here. There are many ways for parents to contribute and get involved too! Our kids have made lifelong friends here.
Posted by a parent on 6/16/2017This school has been the best. We have had 2 boys come through here. We moved away for 2 years and it was horrible. Now that we are back our youngest son is right back on track. All of the teachers care about the students. Even Mr. Zach is awesome! Glad we came back to this school!
Posted by a parent on 1/11/2015My daughter came to Walnut Grove as a 5th Grader and we could not be more pleased with the staff and curriculum. It was a big change for my daughter to switch schools and she couldn't be happier. Thanks to all the staff at Walnut Grove for your hard work and dedication to your students.
Posted by a parent on 12/9/2013My child attended Walnut Grove 1st-5th grade. Every single teacher we had was amazingly good. Dedicated, caring, excellent teachers. Every single one of them. I am sad to see there are some reviews on here from some unhappy parents. I am putting this review out here to say that this is not the norm. The majority of parents at WG are very happy with the school and the teachers. The principal may not be an amazing leader but she is ok. And frankly, the teachers are SO good that they do fine with less than stellar leadership. Couldn't have been more pleased with the education my child received there. He is now in advanced classes in middle school.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at Bentwood for many years and still love it. They got a new principal in 2020 (the other one was amazing and retired after many years) and while Covid threw things off, the school is still great. The school has some teachers that had been teaching at the school for a long time since retire or move on over the past few years, which seems to be similar to other schools. I’m sad to see the overall rating is low because it doesn’t reflect the school at all. The staff is supportive, caring, willing to help one on one and have a lot of experience. From the specials teachers, counselors, nurse, office staff - all are so caring, alert and helpful. The teachers and school try and engage parents by some fun ideas (Bentwood Bluejay Diner where you can eat lunch with your a child, a wonderful Veterans Day program, parent volunteer opportunities through lunch and playground helpers and class parents, etc). Communication is constant from teachers and school administration. One of my daughters went through speech therapy through the school previously and it has helped her greatly overcome her speech impediments - what a great experience we and she had. I do believe that Bentwood is now the ‘hub’ school in the district since Covid for autism so that program has expanded greatly which might be a large reason for the test scores and lower rating. While our family doesn’t participate in that program, they seem to have a large and dedicated staff for those children with needs. Bentwood is a great school and if I were planning on purchasing a house in the neighborhoods in the area, I would feel good about the experience and education that my child would receive there and not let the low rating deter me from what a quality school it really is.Parent Review2mo ago - Regency Place Elementary School
