Dekalb High School

Very very bad. I’m disgusted to have gone through this school and if anyone has a choice I would choose a different one

Bad, my kids couldn't wait to get out begged to be home schooled the only good thing was music and drama programs but they screwed that up.

The only teachers who taught and helped instill values and work ethic into the students have just been forced out by an administration that values it’s bottom line more than the education of their students. Save your child the heartache and have them attend a school that cares about their development and well-being. DeKalb DOES NOT.

If you're wanting an unfriendly, unwelcome atmosphere where the students are judge mental & bully each other & the teachers are biased toward the students & can't update grades online in a timely manner. The staff is there to harass kids rather than help anyone for the most part - then gladly send your kids to DeKalb Middle & High school. This is not my experience alone, I know of many people who have had tremendously negative experiences at DeKalb & have been treated unfairly. This is not to say that DeKalb doesn't have some good things to offer & there have been some improvements made within the last few years. Not enough, as the negative outweigh the positive. Use the information as you see fit & choose wisely!

I would have to say that Dekalb High School has made enormous improvements over the years! As a former student I can tell you that Dekalb has come very far from what it used to be. I considered sending my children to a different school at first... But believe me when I say that Dekalb Central Schools are moving up there with the best! Yes there are issues just like any school. As far as staff, well Dekalb has raised the bar! Dekalb High School may have a few teachers who are better suited in another profession, but the great teachers make up for that times ten! Personally, I admire the new principal Mr.Toth, the exceptional and very caring Guidance Department (Mr.Muter is the best!) the Nurse Gina Corkle, and finally the Resource Team... Mrs. Kelby Shields is someone who holds a special position at DHS, words cannot come close to our gratitude for her! Ms. Carol Fike as well! These particular teachers go above and beyond!! Thanks DEKALB - you rock!
