Whitko High School

In the year 2013 our grade from the state was an A. Our school now has AP classes in English, Math and Science. We have dual credit classes and internships in technical fields such as Engineering, Broadcasting, medical fields and many more. They also have classes such as Welding, CMA etc. in which a student can get a Certificate and start in their career once they graduate H.S. We have a wide variety of winning Athletic programs. We have had several Wrestlers go to State and a few State placers. Our Art program has won National Honors, Marching Band won the gold in 2012 & 2013, and Vocalists can participate in musicals, choirs or perform at ISMA and win the Gold. If you are looking for a safe, quite, friendly community with smaller class rooms so your student can get more personal attention than Whitko H.S. should be a great fit.

First of all let me start with the fact that I have recently graduated from Whitko High School myself. Secondly yes there is only one kind of AP class and yes it is English only, however; there are additional AP classes that can be taken online supervised in a class room or at home in order for students to progress at their own rate. Third I would like to say that any student or parent with the right mind will see that all high schools have there flaws. With all of this being said I would like to credit Whitko for being one of the schools that are making it possible for students to enter into college prepared for just about any thing.

Whitko is a horrible, horrible school. I don't even know where to start. First, the only AP class you can actually take at Whitko that ISN'T online is AP English. Otherwise, you have to take an Apex course online (by yourself, unaided). Second, the students at Whitko are horribly unmotivated. They pride themselves in their involvement with drugs and alcohol and you can ALWAYS catch at least one kid dipping while in school. Peer pressure at Whitko is intense and inescapable. Violence is not a problem, however, there are multiple teen pregnancies. Third, the teachers at Whitko (with a few exceptions) are horrible. While they're not necessarily dumb or bad teachers, they've just given up on trying to work with the students and prepare them for college or pretty much anything. The course work is very, very easy and basically set on a 5th grade skill level. Very little is expected of the students. Most teachers will go out of their way to help, if the student makes the initiative. While Whitko is survivable for a kid with a good head on their shoulders, they will be severely bored with the curriculum and grossly unprepared for college. If you're considering this school, don't.

Teacher quality at this school is abysmal . There are few teachers who actually care about teaching the students. From drugs to complete apathy (yes, I'm talking about the teachers), Whitko High School should be shut down. Administration is aware of many of the problems yet do nothing about them. Parents are not encouraged to be a part of the schoo life (I can see why with staff that is there).
