McKinley Elementary School

Teachers are allowed to bully & pick on children. This is terrible! These children are supposed to be nurtured & protected while at school. Not be damaged & taught that bullying is acceptable when done by an adult. This has been a recurring problem & is nothing new. I am not the only person to witness this at Nuner.Also, if you want to be told that your child is on the bus, then have no one answer the phone at Nuner or transportation when you've been at your child's bus stop for 1 hour after dismissal & your child has not been dropped off because she was STILL AT SCHOOL & NO ONE THOUGHT IT IMPORTANT THEY CONTACT THE CONCERNED PARENT, then this is the school for you. Good luck!

This school doesn't deserve a star! My child's second year at this school and I say this is one of the most careless schools of the South Bend Corporation, I really mean it! Safety is a huge issue here. Threats taken lightly and I do not appreciate their lunch monitor. School is in need of an upgrade and I cannot take the principal serious. If your living in the area, I encourage you to find a different school within the vicinity.

9/10 due to the new principal. I feel that the new staff at the school has truly been an improvement and will continue to provide the best education for the children.

This school has been great for both of my kids. It is diverse and also offers an outstanding education. Sports and other extracurriculars are well-done, and there is a strong sense of community. Our third child will also be going to school there when he is of age. Highly recommend!

If your kids fits in, good. If not it’s not going to work out for you. This is not a place for latest and greatest practices. There are empty slogans like “dress for success” that are pretty hollow. Leadership is particularly weak in handling trouble makers but are quick to examine belt color. None of the teachers are intellectuals though some try hard. Faith education efforts are good and is a strong point. Academics are good for most students. If your student is behind they will not catch up or get ahead... it’s a tough love kind of place academically. Look. If your kid is charismatic and can get accepted OR you’re in the Notre Dame community or you’re rich then everything will be fine. If you’re different there will be a few rich white doctors kids or Notre dame kids who will make life hard for your kid and you will get no support from the leadership. They believe their own hype though so you probably won’t get anywhere.
