We love Riley! Our children get the help they need and we always feel welcome. I love that the class sizes are small and everyone knows each other. The teachers give out so much individual attention and help when needed. This school really feels like a community.Reading some of the negative reviews is surprising to me. Obviously because it’s a smaller school they don’t offer the same shuttle services as some of the bigger schools… but I know first hand if you ask for assistance in the office they WILL provide you with suggestions & options! Overall, this school has a wonderful, small town feel and our children are thriving. We love Riley and Marengo!

I had three kids that went through the school. Some teachers were great and got to know my children and me and my husband on a personal level. Other teachers didn't seem to care at all. Their elementary teachers were good to my kids. My oldest was struggling in math in Junior High, so I helped her as much as I could because the math teacher was indifferent to her (all three of my kids did not like this teacher). My other two kids were much better in math but were never given the opportunity to try the advanced classes and the teacher didn't want to offer them a chance. They had the same teacher through 6,7, and 8. They loved their Science and Social Studies teachers so that worked out. Every school has it's pros and cons, and having the same teacher all throughout Jr High can be good or bad depending on the teacher. Our small community has three school districts so taxpayers pay the superintendent for the primary school district they are in and to the high school. Most people I talk to about consolidation say it's Riley that fights against it. We really need to consolidate.

K-3rd the school is great. After that not so much. Same books, lesson plans and curriculum year after year. If you have siblings just keep the assignments because your next kid will be doing the exact same work. Teachers here demand more money and raises and they are there just for the paycheck Look up their salaries and you will see. No originality to keep students engaged. Nothing offered for students who are advanced learners. The middle school in town will drive students to the high school to take advanced classes. People want to live in this district for the school. I warn you that you will be doing a disservice to your children. Also why does the school need it’s own district and own Superintendent for a school with 300 students????

School does not properly support students with learning differences. Instead pushes them through without meeting goals.

The administration communicates effectively with the parents, and they focus on helping the students learn how to write.
