We have been greatly let down by Millburn. Ever since we moved into this district, bullying has been an ongoing problem. I completely agree with the other reviewer - nothing is being done to address this issue. It has reached a point where my child is afraid to go to school. I truly hope that the administration takes action and brings about positive changes. These kids deserve so much better.

The schools anti bullying policy is a joke. Our kids been bullied from elementary school and all the way through middle school. Their policy seems to be to protect their ratings. They do not issue proper discipline to those causing the issues so they stop. They also seem to blame both parties even if one side has done nothing but try to simply exist. Most of their teachers say they don’t see anything, and often disregard students who try to stop the bullying, like they are being coached to do so from “upper management”. The principals at both elementary and middle, seem to not want any “majors” as they put it on their record for the year so they let the bullies get worse and nothing is ever actually accomplished for the person being bullied to the point of not wanting to go to school and/or becoming suicidal! It’s absolute insanity! Why have a “bullying” policy if you NEVER hold the bullies accountable! In turn causing trauma to those that are being bullied for their entire school timeframe?! Do not recommend being tricked to moving into this district and paying severely high taxes to not even have their own high school, for “good” ratings, that have obviously been made up by their administrators playing devils advocate! Ps to any admins reading this: what’s up with all this? Why torture good kids and ignore and almost reward bullies, especially if their kid is connected to an admin down the line somewhere…the special treatment is noticed by all students at these schools! Wise up and start holding bullies accountable for their actions so they don’t continue year after year! As a former student and parent of students, HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND MILLBURN AT ALL if you don’t want your kid bullied from K-8 with little to no help and being made to feel like you are the problem for bringing the admins and or school staffs attention to anyone that may make their preciously masked ratings go down.

We are happy with our school. Teachers are very caring and I think the overall experience of the kids is great.

At Millburn Middle School, I feel like the teachers push certain characteristics like respect and integrity too much and also focuses on anti-bullying too much. It gets annoying when the school is trying to push these characteristics onto us for the past five or so years. Millburn should also try and focus more on the extracurricular activities that aren't sports, like the theatre program and band. When I was in theatre, our production was poorly done. I know theatre is getting more recognition, we had a better production this year (2019), but I still feel like other extracurricular activities, especially those set up by students, should be recognized more by the administration.
