Read what parents are saying about Bloom High SchoolMy daughter was a 2020 graduate of Bloom. She was able to complete core course credit hours from Prairie State College through the dual enrollment option offered. She graduated with honors, was able to transfer the PSC credits, and received a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. Thanks to her college preparedness, she is now eligible to graduate in December 2023( those extra credits helped her complete earlier than usual), however because she will be going on to University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for graduate school, she’s delaying graduation until June to allow herself to complete required courses as it relates to a PHD in pharmaceuticals. She has a 3.5 GPA and will be graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. My son is now a freshman at Bloom, with 4 AP classes this year. I’m confident he will be successful as Bloom does provide an environment in which he is comfortable with learning advanced concepts and also supports his social emotional development. Overall I am a happy and proud Bloom H.S. parent.
Posted by a parent on 10/5/2023In general, everybody will have a different experience and with this, derives a difference of opinions. In my opinion, this school is improving on its academics and provides many AP courses as well as honors and regulars. Most importantly, it has greatly improved on the grievances addressed in this forum, such as the attitude of students and teachers. The new principal has established that with him as principal, Bloom will be the greatest it will be. I'm sorry to all that have had a bad experience at this school, but mine has been great. "Don't knock it til you try it" is my advice to any parent or student that is skeptical of attending this great school.
Posted by a student on 1/17/2018I went to Bloom from 1968 to 1971.It was a very enlighting time. Had some very good teachers and wonderful students. What i was able to accomplish at Bloom made it that much easier for me to become the Vice President of a major tire company that I worked for for over 35 years.
Posted by a community member on 8/7/2016First of all, I love almost all my teachers. They're really great at teaching, but the material they're teaching is not challenging. The school I used to go attend, even in the regular classes, was much more rigorous than the honors classes at Bloom. I also do not feel there are as many choices and opportunities for students. There are few clubs and after school activities, and freshman are not allowed to take electives. A lot of kids get into violence and substance abuse because they're bored and have nothing to do. Buses at this school are also a big problem. Everyday there are multiple kids standing because there is no place to sit. I have made complaints about this, but nothing has been done. I would like to see Bloom have more options for students to excel.
Posted by a student on 1/8/2015I will begin with the positive. The overall appearance of the school is good. Some staff are helpful and it's a convenient location. However, the academics, college preparedness and overall "leadership" is very sub-standard. A serious positive change needs to take place. I recommend that you do your research before sending your student to this or any school, and make an educated decision. It will benefit you and your child in the long run. It's too much at stake to take a gamble with your child's academic future.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter attending this school for most of K-8th grade (left mid-5th grade year due to harassment from my teacher) I can say that it would rather justify certain actions of bullying rather than address them fully. I would never, never send my child to this school after the experiences Ive had here. Creating a safe school environment is the most important part of attending school, and having my own instances of bullying be dismissed prevented both me and the other students from actual understanding.Other Review3y ago - St Pauls Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI used to go to this school. I really did not like it because of the staff. I remeber I had a fight with someone and the principal barely did anything. Also, there is no clubs to join, AFWUL food. I noticed the school food got worse is quality overtime. It's always either cold, undercooked, or expired. I joined a public school and I had a great time. Way more diversity in clubs, way better food, and more exceptions to students in the autism spectrum.Student Review1y ago - St Agnes School
