Read what parents are saying about Robinson Elementary SchoolThis school has made an amazing turn around!! The teachers are passionate about the children. They take the time to really teach and connect with he children. My son LOVES the school and his teachers. The principal is great with children, she seems to love each and every student. She is personable and communicates with families on a regular basis. I love the fact that they focus on just the smaller children, it has made a difference with my son.
Posted by a parent on 6/3/2021My son attended this school briefly. Thank God I got him out after a few months. The teachers over rely on volunteers to run the classroom. The staff changes often and not very structured. Again, I say a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Poor African American children. No wonder there are so many gangs in Chicago. Time to wake up again!

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter entered Pre-K last year at Reavis. She has special needs and requires an ample amount of attention. I had my reservation about Reavis but it is my neighborhood school and wanted to have her someplace close to home. In her first year at Reavis PreK special education, my daughter went from a non-verbal, shy, and reserved little girl to an outgoing, verbal, and expressive student. She's eager to be at school and it's because of the attention she receives at Reavis. Specifically, from her Prek teacher, Mr. Shah. I can't speak for the other classes but my daughter had a terrific first year of school at Reavis and she was eager to go back.Parent Review4y ago - Woodson South Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHoly Angels is a very special school. Kind of a best kept secret because I didn't even know the school was still open until my friend told me. My daughter is a transfer student from Indiana and she did not want to leave her school, but I was looking for employment and had to move. I was in luck because I moved to the Bronzeville neighborhood and Holy Angels is within walking distance. The school staff is friendly and she loves her teacher and has made some new class friends. I ask her often if she likes it at Holy Angels and she says she does, so I'm glad I made the choice to send her to this school. The only downside is I wish they had more activities for the kids to do but other than that I'm happy.Parent Review1y ago - Ancona School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAncona is an incredible, loving, caring community and a great place for a child to learn and grow. The teachers meet children where they are and have a sharp eye for their needs, and are ready with a wide variety of strategies to help them thrive.Academically, Ancona leverages is resources to create a curriculum which I’m convinced is like no other in the world. Their outdoor classrooms inspire children toward the sciences and beyond. The curriculum also weaves together rich and unique subjects on black history, social Justice and the arts, such as in the afrofuturism unit in grades 1-2. Yes, these gifted teachers have found a way to teach that material to that age group.Music, art and foreign language education all draw on and strive toward excellence. Music education extends into their excellent afterschool program, with guitar and piano lessons available as well as many other activities such as chess club and competitive sports for the older children. We moved here when our son was an infant. Chicago did not feel like home. Ancona has had a major hand in flipping that scenario 180 degrees. Now our son is 7 and we are so happy and proud of what the Ancona community has afforded to him and to our family. We could not be more grateful to this unmatched group of faculty, staff, students and parents. Thank you Ancona.Parent Review1y ago
