Read what parents are saying about Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day SchoolAkiba Schechter is an incredible school with dedicated, committed, passionate faculty. The students are very capable and are challenged to grow and learn while supporting the community and friendships.
Posted by a parent on 4/9/2023I can't say enough about this school! Our two children are thriving here. There is a great balance of secular and Judaic studies. I feel like the teachers make a great effort to get to know the kids so they can individualize learning when needed. I love that I can always reach out with questions or concerns. I feel like the teachers are an extension of our family.
Posted by a parent on 11/3/2021A true gem of a school. We have three very different kids going through Akiba and grateful for the individual attention and customized lesson plans for each. I have so many examples where my kids have been given enrichment in both General and Judaic studies as they have shown interest/aptitude in a particular area. This school really does practice the "teach children, not subjects" mission!
Posted by a parent on 11/2/2021Akiba Schechter is a wonderful school who really lives up to their motto of "teaching students, not subjects"
Posted by a parent on 7/16/2020We were much more pleased with other schools in the area. Akiba Schechter simply didn’t meet our needs. We wanted a more put together institution that carried through on their words and promises.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school, like many, has great potential. The problem is all staff need stronger support from the network level. Professional development is lacking as teachers and admin are not implementing effective strategies for instruction, grading, SEL, or creating open and consistent communication with parents. The teaching aids are not equipped to support students in positive ways. The administration are friendly but don’t hold staff accountable.Parent Review2y ago - Kozminski Elementary Community Academy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKozminski isn't a bad school people just don't give it a chance the teachers actually care about their students and want them to try their best. From what I know teachers are preparing their students for high school already. The school has low funding so it's not at its best but their students and teachers are.Student Review6y ago - Ray Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageRay has let me down as a loyal student. Its a dirty school, and the lunch sucks. If I could give it a 0, I would. 1. Bad education, the teachers are mean.2. The bathrooms are dirty, there's writing on the walls, the cafeteria has crumbs everywhere and it isn't clean. The floor is dirty and whenever I go to eat the tables are filthy.3. The hot lunch. It has no nutritional value and looks like its pulled from a garbage can and then thrown carelessly into a microwave, and sometimes they serve uncooked food. And there are school fights almost everyday. And one time there was some creepy guy filming us at recess (like a complete stranger), we told the dean and they did nothing. The man continued to take pictures and videos. Please don't send your child here.Student Review2y ago - Ariel Elementary Community Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAncona is an incredible, loving, caring community and a great place for a child to learn and grow. The teachers meet children where they are and have a sharp eye for their needs, and are ready with a wide variety of strategies to help them thrive.Academically, Ancona leverages is resources to create a curriculum which I’m convinced is like no other in the world. Their outdoor classrooms inspire children toward the sciences and beyond. The curriculum also weaves together rich and unique subjects on black history, social Justice and the arts, such as in the afrofuturism unit in grades 1-2. Yes, these gifted teachers have found a way to teach that material to that age group.Music, art and foreign language education all draw on and strive toward excellence. Music education extends into their excellent afterschool program, with guitar and piano lessons available as well as many other activities such as chess club and competitive sports for the older children. We moved here when our son was an infant. Chicago did not feel like home. Ancona has had a major hand in flipping that scenario 180 degrees. Now our son is 7 and we are so happy and proud of what the Ancona community has afforded to him and to our family. We could not be more grateful to this unmatched group of faculty, staff, students and parents. Thank you Ancona.Parent Review1y ago - St. Thomas the Apostle Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSt. Thomas the Apostle School has been a godsend to my granddaughter Jada Jones. Jada has attended St. Thomas for nine years. I applaud the faculty and staff for their caring, concern, patience, and commitment to embracing the children academically, socially and spiritually. St. Thomas has a very structured academic program and I am happy Jada is a part of it. Each year, I have seen Jada grow academically and become more self-confident. The school also has a very well-rounded extracurricular program that teaches the children valuable life lessons, such as teamwork and good sportsmanship. During the nine years Jada has been at St. Thomas, the environment has been like, “one big happy family.” I highly recommend St. Thomas to anyone who is looking for a school that will provide a solid foundation of top-notch education, personal development and spirituality.Grandparent , Gwen JonesParent Review3y ago - Univ Of Chicago Lab School
