Read what parents are saying about Jefferson Middle SchoolHorrible experience, would not recommend. Overextended staff and rough environment.
Posted by a parent on 7/26/2023I had an 8th grader who attended school here and things had gotten so bad, due to the teachers, Mr. Guzman or Angie Franklin not doing their jobs properly. The only teachers that paid attention and made sure my child received an amazing learning experience were Mr. DeVries(math teacher) and Mrs. Adrian(S.S. teacher). I complained about issues my child were enduring from other students and nothing was done about it. I complained about the issues several times and was very cordial with the teachers, by having a meeting with them even though my child wasn't creating the problem and nothing was done properly. I went as far as going to the Mellon Building complaining about the issue and was told that the issue should have been handled properly and that they shouldn't have never allowed me to leave unsatisfied about the situation. My child is a honor student and is a very self-focused person when it comes to his education. I didn't understand for the life of me on why they didn't address the issue properly. I ended up transferring my child to Franklin, so far things have been going well there. Jefferson also tried to charge us $70 for the 8th grade trip which is free at Franklin.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt's rather interesting how different parents have different takes on the school's Scholastic program. I am a real parent, and all my kids played in both JV and varsity NGS scholastic bowl teams, including all 4 teams mentioned by another reviewer. Yes, the ones that get to play at the state tournament are between 5-10 students at most. But over the past 3-4 years, there have been anywhere between 45-50 kids from 5th - 8th grades participating in varsity and two JV teams, which represent about a third to a half of all kids in these grade levels. All these teams consistently post VERY impressive records year in and year out against academic teams from other schools, both local and statewide. This is clearly not the accomplishment of just a "handful" of kids, but rather, a reflection of how well these kids are educated in general. I do agree with another reviewer that the school does nickel and dime you quite a bit, but I don't see how that relates to the school's consistently excellent performances in academic competitions.Other Review7y ago - St Matthew School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is the. best. Christian. elementary. school. I cannot say enough good things. Our daughter has blossomed here. Teachers are kind, caring. The focus is on letting kids be kids and on family life. The classes are small and we have had many individual plans/lessons specific to our daughter. Sports and band start in 4th grade. We've felt very welcome from day 1.Other Review6y ago
