Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center

My experience with this school for the past 2 years have been horrible. My child has had problems with being bullied but he is the one that gets in trouble. My child fears going to school and has lost all sense of loyalty to his teacher. His teacher and the principle say he is the problem, even after telling them many times that he is being bullied. I would not recommend this school at all.

The Principal and staff are attentive, available and genuine. Special needs programs are the best there is. Curriculum is wonderful, test scores are impressive and my child is testing 2 grades higher than last year. The new Principal has really made positive changes and created an environment comfortable enough to do learn in. Best school in the district.

This school is excellent. Teachers are committed and innovative. My grandson just finished kindergarten here and has been at or near the top of his class all year. The teacher had all kinds of things for them to do as a group and individually and sent home a book at the end of the year with photos of your child participating in all the group activities they had done all year - Valentine's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and lots of fun art projects, pageants, etc. He is more than ready for 1st grade!

This is our second year at Maternity. We joined this school when we moved to Bourbonnais last year, because we heard it was the best in the area. Although the teachers seem to care about the kids, they cannot give the attention we were promised. My son's class has 40 kids in it, and the aid that was promised is rarely there. The laptops they are issued are a joke, as they only use them at home to look up information...we have a computer for that! We are very disappointed but didn't want to move our son to a new school again.

I have two young children who attend St. Joe and LOVE it. Their teachers challenge them while encouraging them. The focus is on the development of all aspects of my children - not just the academics. I have also enjoyed the sense of community that is present. Whether at the school or out in the community, children, older and younger, are always stopping to say, "Hi" when they see my kids and my kids know who they are! The class sizes are perfect. My family just loves St. Joseph and cannot say enough good things about it! I am also so appreciative of the new principal and all the wonderful things that he has added to the school.

As a person who went through this school, I rate it a 3/10. The teachers are nice if you are in 3-8, but K-2 was somewhat bad. I was told as a student by one of the teachers that I would not be anything in life. The teaching level here is also very low and bad. They do not teach the right stuff to kids in 5-8. As a person who is now in high school, the teaching from this school has not helped me. Not only that, the environment in that place was horrible. The kids cuss and have also told some people to k### them self. Teachers need to watch the kids more. So in conclusion this school is 3/10
