A COMPLETELY TERRIBLE SCHOOL/DISTRICT!!!! There is SERIOUS RACISM and DISCRIMINATION that is rampant and not even Acknowledged by the school district/staff, the fact that it’s not even addressed makes it worse. My daughters ages 7 and 5 had previously been wonderful students that were always so excited and eager to learn, until they were enrolled at John Gates Elementary school. Now they both simply DREAD attending and have started to suddenly act out, PARTICULARLY while at school. I am angry and disappointed in this school. I pray this place hasn't destroyed my daughters love and enthusiasm for learning. Why do I say these things? My daughters are caucasian and are constantly being bullied by both staff and students of the Hispanic ethnicity. The failure of the district/staff to see this type of garbage directed at my daughters speaks volumes about this place. I am currently in the process of removing them from the school and enrolling them elsewhere. I am sickened by John Gates Elementary school and the manner in which they allow this to happen. I GIVE THEM A FAILING GRADE AND DON’T ADVISE ENROLLMENT.

My child has been being bullied and nothing has been done. My child has had a bully who kept coming on to her stomped out her shoes physically touched herultiple times and because the little girl is slow my daughter has to allow it. They have a new principal who doesn't have empathy for younger students or understands that young kids can be bullies as well. My daughter has been being bullied by the same student for over 1 year and a half now with no solution I reached out to multiple superintendents and they just pass it along to the next one and the boss told the new principal that I should move my daughter to another district. Bring back adults who care for all kids. Please do not send your child here especially if they are mixed race they are allowed to be racially profiled by students and harassed.

Montessori Children's Garden (MCG) is a truly amazing place. My husband and I are so grateful to have chosen MCG for our son's education! He was there from 2.5 to 6 years old. Not only was he incredibly well prepared to start school in IPSD 204 from an academic standpoint, but also socially and emotionally. The school is very well run - with top notch communication and a staff of talented, caring teachers. The staff put on regular education nights for parents, and with no judgment, really helped me identify how to be the best mom I can be. While in the Kindergarten program, our son was asked to be a leader in the classroom and take on more responsibilities. It was so wonderful to watch him thrive and be cared for by an entire staff of smart, devoted, and empathetic women. Thank you so much, MCG, for giving our son the best start! I can't help but wonder how wonderful the world would be if every child got this kind of start. MCG is truly a special place!
