Alton High School

Terrible. They really should hire properly trained new staff or closed the whole school down. The teacher to student ratio is too high. They only have time for the kids who can work independently, but no time for the kids who need a little help.They are unorganized. I was told I never registered my son for school when I went to the High school and fill out all the paper work, went all those stations, and talked to the principal....but I "never registered him". I had to change the bus drop off because of my work schedule. Everything was confirmed by the school and the bus company, but they still but him on the wrong bus. Called the school they assured all was fixed. Next day they did it again. My 6 year old son was walking around my neighbor until he thought to go to my neighbor's house. Thankfully his dad was working days, and was able to pick him up. I didn't find out what happened until 12am when I got off work. They took no responsibility for their actions. Hate is a strong word, but I hate that school and the stress they put my son through.

My son graduated today from Montessori Children's House, after 11 years with them. For 11 years I haven't worried whether or not he was having a good day- I've never seen a kid come out of those doors anything but happy. For 11 years, I've had zero worries about homework, grades, whether he'd get in trouble because I got him to school late (again), bullying, how his teachers treated him, if his clothes were "cool," if he'd get to play outside, if he had friends, who his friends were, if he was under too much pressure, if he'd be able to keep up with school and all his extra-curriculars, if they'd understand he needed a few days off because his dad was visiting from out of state.For 11 years, I've sent him to school KNOWING he'd be treated like family.He has never liked to miss school, including for summer break and snow days, and today is very bittersweet for both of us.I didn't intend to send him to preschool at all, but at age 3, he begged me to go to school. What started as 3 half days, soon turned into full days, once he realized some of his friends got to stay all day. What started as, "We'll just go through preschool, then move him, " turned into "Are you sure I can't do high school here?"Montessori Children's House, thank you for EVERYTHING. We will be forever grateful.

This is my daughter’s first year at Mississippi Valley after completing kindergarten and 1st grade in a public school. Her social skills and reading have improved tremendously. Small class sizes ensure that your child will get the attention they need to learn successfully. My daughter was not very social in Alton school district due to the distractions of children with behavior issues. The parents seem to have similar Christian values as I do and I feel this school was a good choice for my family. I hope their enrollment increases, because this school is a hidden gem in our community. In today’s society it is hard to educate your children without woke ideology and degeneracy being shoved down their throats. Mississippi Valley gives me a feeling of comfort knowing that my child is not being indoctrinated with toxic liberal ideals. The tuition is very affordable for working class parents on a budget.

Where do I even start. I went to this school from 2-8th grade as a diganosed autistic person and I had to start masking in order to feel like I wasn't different from the other kids. This is because I was the only autistic kid there. Teachers often got me in trouble for typical autistic behaviors because they weren't trained. My 5th grade teacher was a religious nut who would give lunch detentions for just saying god's name in vain. The religion teacher was a homophobic bigot. The principal was a tirant who cared about more how we were dressed and the school's reputation that the students. he would also get annoyed at kids for doing things that kids normally do. This is a school that cares more about shoving religious principles down our throats than teaching us how to be good people. I am no longer a christian due to this place, so I hope they're happy.
