Lake Ridge Elementary School

As a first time school mom. Last year the staff and teachers were always so helpful and they treat you like you are family. I would highly recommend lake ridge elementary to everyone. Best school ever......

Perhaps one way to counteract bullying and bad behaviors among students would be for the teachers and staff to provide better examples. I witnessed a child being turned away from the lunch line by a staff member with the loud comment "you didn't pay for that - you can't have anything from there". The little girl obviously didn't know what she was supposed to do and was in tears at the end of this exchange. I can think of several ways that situation could have been handled in a kind, constructive manner. Another situation is that my granddaughter has had 2 moles removed from her scalp. The first did have dangerous cells. The doctor advised her to wear a hat when outdoors. Returning from recess one day, she forgot to remove her pink cap before coming inside. A teacher in the area saw her and apparently yelled at her to get that hat off her head. That person seemed almost threatening to her. My granddaughter came home in tears and refused to wear any head covering at all for the rest of the school year. I would like to say her classroom teacher was helpful and kind while the surgeries healed. My point is empathy and sensitivity training may be in order.

Close knit. Everyone knows everyone. Great kids and awesome teachers!
