Desert Springs Elementary School

I love this school. The principal is very hands on and fun. I have had nothing but good experiences for two of my kids here.

Their number one concern is the money they get from the government, your kid will be viewed as a dollar sign rather than a child who needs educational support to adequately make it as an adult in the future. Bullying is rampant. I had to raise literal h*ll because another student was choking my daughter until she’d pass out and ripping chunks out of her hair. The student admitted it and their resolve at first was a “pecking order” or “being friends” then “we will just keep them away from each other. Blew my mind away that this was ever allowed and such weak excuses / resolutions followed. They’d lose money if they lost a student, so that’s how it goes. Even with outside tutoring support, my daughters fell behind the last 2 years. My eldest is special needs and her IEP states she can have headphones. Sometimes she needs direction to get them. A hot air balloon landed in the back of the school and yes, she got excited, but quickly overwhelmed with the noise. She asked for her headphones and was told no. This caused a major emotional and sensory meltdown when she got home (ASD). When I brought it to their attention I was told “I didn’t think she needed them” … Our experience with Desert Springs was less than pleasant. Id like to state, these are my personal experiences, it may not be anyone else’s experience.

I love having my son go to the school in the community he lives in. He meets other kids from the neighborhood, I meet other parents, and the teachers my son has worked with in kindergarten are excellent. It is everything I want in a local public school.

Very disappointing, have tried to reach out to principal and get more involved in School but was not welcomed.

Desert Springs Elementary made my grandson's transition to a new school great! Everyone was very helpful, kind and supportive. His teacher Mrs. McConnell is a wonderful teacher and shows great concern and willingness to go the extra mile for children in her class to help them learn.
