Fruitland Elementary School

My child has excelled. We moved to the area 2018 & couldn't be happier with the school experience. Truly amazing how good my childs year was in comparison to our last school. Truly blessed. Wonderful teachers, reading scores jumped up 3× along with math. No problems with bullying. Just an over all awesome experience.

I will provide ratings for each of the categories that require evaluation. 1. Learning: I'm sure they are learning... something. It seems that what they are actually learning is unquestioning obedience to nonsensical rules, rather than looking at the subjects critically and objectively (classical education should be based on the likes of Aristotle, who openly endorsed questioning). This school DOES NOT do this. The limited learning that occurs is subpar and an embarrassment to education. In one particular case, the school has pushed on a student who failed 8th grade twice and then was required to go into 9th grade "because we can't hold "student" back twice". This selfsame student is now failing most of the 9th-grade subjects (surprise, surprise). I legal jargon that is called a "denial of education."2. Teaching: This one goes hand in hand with the learning. Things are taught from the viewpoint of the teacher, rather than being focused on accuracy and again, critical thinking. The subject matter being taught in 8th grade is approximately 4-5th grade knowledge in European countries. Keep in mind that this school has YET to GRADUATE A SINGLE STUDENT!!! The school only ranks above the bottom 50% across ALL schools in Idaho. it has been hanging out in 225th spot for all schools (2021-2023). There are many better charter schools out there. In fact, having dealt with several charter schools across Idaho, California, Utah, Germany, Spain, and France.... This, by far, is the worst I have seen. 3. Social-Emotional Support: This school has none that can be observed. Several families have pulled their children out of this school because of this. Others do not realize what is going on, and there are a few who do not have the choice to pull their children from this abysmal excuse for a school. 4. SPED: Again, lacking at best, gross neglect at worst.5. Safety: Assaults have been handled repeatedly internally, rather than involving the appropriate authorities. Reports of other things have repeatedly been met with "we are concerned", yet improvement is not shown, even with a change in leadership.6. Family support: Are we talking "we want families to help us" (yes) or "we help families"(no). Good luck if you want this school to communicate appropriately if you are a divorced parent, unless you are prepared to take legal action to enforce your rights, and want to be repeatedly told that you are not a parent. 0/10 do not recommend
