Read what parents are saying about Linn-Mar High SchoolLinn Mar use to be a school of choice with parents moving to the district so their children could attend one of the schools.. The last couple of years, families have been moving away, open enrolling their children in other districts, and homeschooling. The school board has attempted to implement policies that parents feel are not in the best interest of their children. The board is made up of people who are not leaders and who are disrespectful to other board members and to the parents. They have created a divisive environment. A school board can make or break a school system. This one is broken.
Posted by a parent on 3/29/2024As a student of Linn Mar, I often question where the school district is spending their funding. Obviously the pandemic was very rough on all school districts, but I struggle to see why a new administrative building is being constructed while many students 20+ minutes away from the building have to walk in one of the hottest weeks of the year because there aren't enough bus drivers to take them. In addition, both the high school and the nearby Excelsior Middle School often have issues with the A/C, leading to many classrooms being miserable for both students and teachers. The mental health support, while better than Excelsior, really doesn't amount to much. In short, the Linn Mar Highschool isn't a great option as the district executives have done little to show that they actually care about the students. However, there really aren't a lot of options for schools in this area, and Linn Mar is probably the best choice if Marion schools are your only option.

Posted by a student on 6/23/2022This is not a community school, and learning is no longer a priority at Linn Mar. It is so sad to see how quickly this school cares more about politics then each individual kids success. When teachers physically fight in the hallway while kids stand by and watch, sexual interactions can occur in both girls and boys bathrooms (Before the new school changes) and kids barking at other kids because they are now considered a Fury even though it makes other kids uncomfortable. Watch what happens to their enrollment after next year when other kids can open enroll at other schools.
Posted by a parent on 4/28/2022Linn-Mar leadership from the school board, superintendent, and District Administrators is laughable at best when it comes to students with disabilities. They consistently break laws on processes all in the name of funding and catering to teachers unions. Disgusting. If the general public had any idea what this district is doing, there would be riots in the streets.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLove this school. We moved out of the Linn Grove district but my children still attend here due to the attendance exception I apply for every year. I plan to keep them there as many years as I can get the attendance exception!Parent Review6y ago - Echo Hill Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was extremely disappointed by the education my kids received. By Tuesday they had completed their work and usually spent most of their time reading. By middle school they had no idea how to do long division and were missing basic math concepts. This was despite excelling at Echo Hill and being in the Leo program. I am very disappointed we put so much faith into the school thinking that the next year would be better. All while paying ridiculously high taxes. It was as though they tried something new every year, realized it didn’t work then tried something different. A big concept at the school is reading 1 million words. That is an odd standard to want to live up to when the fast track in middle school is based on math.Parent Review4y ago - Emerson Elementary School
