I would say that this school has much room for improvement. Some of the teachers are very helpful and some are not. I disagree with the new education standards and not giving homework, I feel it is setting students up for a rude awakening when they get to high school and college. The school had a new principal this year and she is resigning after this year. My son will tell me of students who act out and can be disruptive. Just this past Wednesday we had received a recorded message that there was a suspicious weapon found and CRPD was contacted. It turns out that it was a pellet gun that shoots air pellets, and we were notified the next day that it was not loaded. This incident happened the same day as the shooting in Florida. I felt that this issue is being handled all wrong. Students are not being told what is going on. They should of had an all school assembly to talk about what happened at Wilson on Wednesday and what happened in Florida and to make sure that everyone is aware of expectations and consequences. Depending on the crowd/activities your child decides to do or associate with will determine your child's experience with this school. My husband and I like to be active with the teachers and know what is going on and I feel that this lacks with this school. Now I understand it is apart of growing up and learning responsibility, but if parents are engaged just as much as the students, maybe just maybe grades and testing scores might be better. It gives parents the opportunity to help kids learn outside of the classroom.Posted by a parent on 2/16/2018
This is by far the worst school I have ever seen including the sub-par schools of Waterloo.Posted by a parent on 9/12/2017
The teachers are very helpful and anwser all of the questions for the kids' needs.Posted by a community member on 10/3/2016
I think that Wilson School is a great school and that it is very nice to have the quality of teachers that this fine school has especially the 8th grade Science Teacher. I think that the teachers really care and that they are striving very hard to get the children to learn. Keep up the good work.Posted by a community member on 10/2/2012

Wilson is definitely not a very good school. There is so much drama, & so many mean people there that dont care about anyones feelings. (At one point my daughter had to go through people writing things about her dead mother in the school bathroom. The teachers are not at all challenging. And the teachers are terrible. They are either really mean or just sit there, give you worksheets, and dont teach you anything. I recommend sending your child to Franklin middle school instead of wilson. Thank god we moved because my daughter LOVES franklin and would choose to go there anyday. They challenge your child if they need it, & they help them if they need it. Its definitely in my opinion, the best middle school in iowa.Posted by a parent on 10/16/2011

- All Saints Parish School
N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our second year at All Saints Parish School. We have been impressed with their progressive learning style of teaching with a student-based learning approach verses a course-based approach. They are rooted in faith, while promoting character developement and leadership skills. They lead other schools in technology. New SMART Boards in each classroom, and mobile computer labs integrate technology into the classroom. We are honored with earning the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) grant this year.Parent Review10y ago

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI loved this school the kids are great and there are so many nice teachers I have been to a lot of elementary schools as I grew up but Cleveland was the best the staff and the kids were really welcoming I loved school and if I didn't understand something the teachers would explain it slower and easier it was one of the best things of my life I would recommend this school even when I had a hard morning at home I would go to school and forget all about what happend the only thing this school was missing was good equipment that's why we need the 5000 dollars the other elementary schools that I went to weren't as welcoming I actually got bullied there but when I moved to Cleveland everyone was so friendly and sweet the principle was the best part she would take us sledding and now as a parent my kid loves this school she has tons of friend .Parent Review8y ago

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our first year at Garfield Elementary School. My child is a kindergartner. I have nothing but good things to say about this school. Mrs. McDonald is vested in the students learning and listens to all concerns I have about my child being on track. She is always ready with a plan if he's having trouble learning something one way to try a different technique. Principal Long is always around and ready to help at a moments notice. It shows in her actions that the students are her number one priority. The school highly encourages parent involvement. I am very happy with this school.Parent Review7y ago

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't want to go into a lot of detail but I will say, if you have the means to send your child elsewhere, do so. My son's second and third grade teachers were wonderful but his first and fourth grade teachers..... the things that they will say to your child is shocking and the principle will be on the side of the teacher. Your child has no voice in this school. My son hates school this year to the point that he will beg me not to make him go. I hope for the sake of the kids some changes are made here. Madison has a 3 rating for a reason; It's one of the worst schools in the Cedar Rapids area. I will be sending my child elsewhere toOther Review5y ago
