Booth Middle School

I had two children who were bullied when they went through the pre-k program. The teachers didn't tell me and I had to rely on my student to communicate the information. The second child had speech apraxia and wasn't able to communicate what was going on until he saw the parent of the child who was picking on him and ran over to tell them directly. I especially had issues with my second child - who had speech apraxia and was being mainstreamed for the first time. About 3 weeks into attending the school, he started regressing with potty training and withdrawing from social interactions with peers. When I messaged this to his teacher she ignored my concerns and told me how much the students in his class liked him. She invalidated my issues by not addressing them. These issues escalated until he was on a behavior plan. I never felt like the teachers respected my experiences with him as a parent -- and instead assumed they knew better and that the only valid experiences were the ones they were seeing firsthand in the classroom. I felt like the issues that I had with both sons were never adequately addressed. I met with the principal and when I told him that my pediatrician recommended a therapist for my son's bathroom regression -- the principal responded saying, "Well, therapy never worked for me." I would say this is a environment where issues of mental health are pushed to the side and ignored. I didn't feel like my special education child received the support that he deserved. And as a parent I didn't receive sufficient communication about what was going on in the classroom.

My son went to this school his last year in elementary. I was nervous about it because he would be a new student and already had established friendships at the other school. However, I was extremely impressed with PCES. The administration and teaching staff were some of the best I’ve ever seen. He has never been a kid to be into trouble and yet they still knew him by name. They made it a point to make his transition comfortable. They not only educated him but took a personal interest in building a relationship with him and us as a family. He still has connections that formed there although he’s now in middle school. His demographic group made up only 10% of students yet that wasn’t an issue either. I love this school and would definitely recommend it.

My daughter has attended since 1st grade and is currently in third. Principal Voorhies and VP Distephano have been great whenever I have gone in. Front office staff are always pleasant and helpful. I enjoy the PTO involvement and they are very active, which means lots of opportunities for parents to be involved. Parents can have lunch with their children and all my daughters teachers have been helpful. I am an involved parent and reach out to check in and each of her three teachers have been proactive with communication and sending additional support resources when she is struggling with a topic. I moved from out of state and was concerned about GA schools. I have not been disappointed by Kedron. My daughter talks about her lessons with excitement. My only issue is a lot of the programming does not seem to consider dual working households but that is a trend in Peachtree city. PTO meetings are ar 8am, for example. I am able to attend due to remote work,, but I often think about how much I would miss if I still worked on site and how many parents cannot take off or be late to work.

My absolute FAVORITE school in the area !!!! All great schools but Oak Grove has been one of the best schools where my children went & now my grandchildren! I even love this school more now and the administration is top notch !!

I had a family member go there and he was allegedly touched but that's what he said and he's 7 he said he told the teacher and they did nothing, good education but not so good safety
