12 years didn't matter when it counted most.Our son attended GWA from kindergarten through junior year. When he was caught with vaping devices, he was expelled.In my view, expelling individual students doesn't address why vaping happens on campus in the first place. If a school has an ongoing issue with substance use among students, removing students one by one treats the symptom, not the cause. Real leadership would examine the school culture and environment.When we raised concerns and asked how the expulsion would be documented for college applications and future enrollment, the headmaster sent us his attorney's contact information instead of answering our questions.The expulsion documentation is preventing our son from enrolling elsewhere to complete his junior year. After twelve years of tuition and loyalty, the school chose expulsion over helping a student they've known since he was five years old.If you're considering GWA, ask yourself: if your child makes a mistake at 17, will the school help them learn from it, or will they remove the problem from campus? Based on our experience, I know what to expect.
