Read what parents are saying about Lindley Middle SchoolMy brother was enrolled at this school (and he's a special needs student) and they took a week to process his records and get him into school. Now they call every other day for some problem that may or may not be real.I don't appreciate how the kids make fun of him and the teachers don't do anything about it, but they don't have a problem calling us to drop everything we're doing to pick him up from school.
Posted by a community member on 10/26/2022Ok to start of the school is great the teachers are very invested in teaching the problem is the students most of them are just dumb they don’t care or try to pass but the one thing there good at is fight all they do is fight we were put in a lock down because of fights and in homeroom for 2 weeks because of the fights. on 2 separate occasions they had to call dogs for drugs and while I’m in class some of them talk how they just did drugs. I have also seen so much stupidity. If you invest your self in the classes there easy. The teachers don’t do anything about bullying mostly because there is little to no bullying.if your in a fight you will be suspended even if your didn’t start it the staff is done with every one. The last thing , the food is ok no nutritional value to speak off and it’s the same thing every week but it’s free for us but pack a lunch once a while
Posted by a student on 3/17/2022As a former Lindley student I can honestly say that my middle school experience was different from others in the county. We were often treated like prisoners, there were constant violent fights, and quite a few girls (aged 11-14) wound up pregnant. That being said, we all tried our best. Teachers endured through impossible situations and kids pushed past their home lives with the hope that they could learn and improve. I have friends from Lindley going to Princeton, NYU, GATech, USC, and Vanderbilt. Most of them also got great scholarship money. If you have a determined kid and can't afford Whitfield, don't worry he or she will be fine.
Posted by a community member on 1/17/2020This is our son's first year at Lindley Middle, coming from Lindley 6th Grade Academy, and we were hoping that Lindley Middle would be a seamless extension of Lindley 6th grade but both are vastly different. At Lindley Middle I don't care for how the kids are treated like prisoners, regardless of whether they have disciplinary issues or not, and are made to walk in a line from class to class, and if they break the line are disciplined. They can only go to lockers at the beginning and the end of the school day, and if they go to the restroom for too long they're disciplined for that as well. I am concerned that this could cause serious issues with their sense of self worth and value. Many of the teachers that he's had this year have been great, but there are a few that are bad apples and administration does little to help. The worst being Mrs. Sims. There have been numerous unanswered emails, constantly failing to enter grades on time (often times after report cards and progress reports have been issued), and no-shows to scheduled parent/teacher conferences. Anxiously waiting until the school year is over. He will most likely not return.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attends this school and I was hesitant at first because the school is extremely outdated , I mean nothing is appealing about this elementary. The only thing that made me keep him there are the educators . I have never seen teachers who care so much about their students. I do believe the new principle is mediocre. The communication at this school is the worst I’ve ever seen. They tell you the day before about school day events . Their playgrounds are horrible , the school should do some fundraisers . The school needs to be cleaned up. Cobb county needs to invest money into this school. They probably will not because we are in a predominantly black area. Shame on you cobb county . The school also has nice family programs that I do love. There are no after school sports or activities . We have to do better somehow. As much as I love the educators at this school , if I am able to switch schools I will. There are not enough programs at this school. They’re not taught Spanish either and 50% of the school is Hispanic. As soon as this area becomes gentrified I bet this school changes drastically. Our children deserve the best like the children in east Cobb!Parent Review9mo ago - Riverside Primary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur Middle School child has attended Whitefield now going on 3 years. Previously, our child attended AIS and Morris Brandon. I'm a graduate of Lovett. My wife attended a public school out of state. We returned to Atlanta partially to send our child to the AIS experience-- probably the most unique among private schools in ATL. While foreign language fluency was certainly a bonus, the bullying, overt displays of wealth, and constant political engagement (even at the preschool level) pushed us to switch to APS. The Brandon years for us were COVID, and our child was routinely receiving 100s for just showing up. We felt that public school education was geared toward the lowest achiever, not a great fit.We applied to many of the ATL private schools, and he was accepted or waitlisted at most. We chose Whitefield due to its mission--which is safe learning, within the context of Christian morality, in a supportive environment. We also wanted a school that was a socio-economic mix. Many of the WF families seem to hold similar ideals. Similarly, most of the faculty aligns with the mission--with a large portion actually coming from Westminster-- who universally say they left for the mission. Our experience with Whitefield is consistent with the mission - sometimes for worse, but most often for better. Since attending, the school has removed several families that did not fit the mission (some wealthy, some not). However, the school actively teaches such age-old concepts as "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"--and WF lives by this. My child actually came home one day repeating this from a school lesson. He also had a couple of challenges with other children--which the school immediately addressed positively for all involved. The school has also experienced faculty turnover-- however, this turnover was notably less than AIS - we've been told most schools experience quite a bit of turnover these days--especially in recent years. Furthermore, the trend we have witnessed is a continuous uptick in quality replacement. No doubt that WF is not perfect. But, if you are looking for an environment that attempts to instill confidence in your own child's learning identity while empowering acceptance of differences--within a Christian morality context: WF is an excellent school to begin the journey.Parent Review9mo ago - The SAE School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am writing to express my concerns regarding an incident involving my son at The SAE School in May. To provide context, my son is academically advanced and has consistently earned A honor roll status during his time at the school. He is not known to misbehave, and it is this incident that has prompted me to question the school's alignment with its stated values and principles.Quoting from the school's website: "DISCOVER. NURTURE. PROTECT. To discover, nurture, and protect each child's individual life and academic journey. This is what separates The SAE School from other schools. We have committed to this purpose and are intentional about carrying it out." The school also emphasizes the importance of providing an enjoyable and engaging learning experience for children. The incident involved my son being subjected to a form of corporal punishment. The teacher, who is not a Physical, instructed my son to perform continuous squats, touching his backside to the ground, for nearly an hour in front of his classmates. Despite his cries and other students pleading for it to stop, the teacher continued to watch, and at one point even dozed off in her chair while my son struggled with the exercise. This punishment was administered because my son attempted to make his peers laugh during a silent lunch. Adding to the distress, my son's request to call home was denied after the incident. This incident raises questions about whether such severe punishment aligns with the nurturing and protective values professed by The SAE School. Disciplining a child for typical, playful behavior with an hour of repetitive squats, even after he fell and struggled to continue, appears excessive and contradicts the idea of allowing children to enjoy a fun and engaging learning environment. The teacher's decision to subject my son to such punishment without a clear understanding of his physical limits is troubling and disregards the nurturing and protective values the school claims to uphold.Parent Review5mo ago - Angels In Progress Academy
