It’s a poor experience. The grading system is laughable. On a 100 point scale a 70% is a D. Silly concept. In college 70% is a C. This is not going to make a student make better grades it’s just hurting GPA. The fact that there are no books or reference tools except Google. Yes google. Your kids are doing research using Google. Teachers are half teaching material. Teachers are giving and guiding only particular students by given them only tools and information to pass/succeed. This information is not equally shared if you are not friends with teachers or your family isn’t. Teachers spend time playing and goofing around with students and ignoring the quiet, polite, nice kids. They ignore the kids that ask for help and tell them to google it. It’s truly sad to see.

Ok. They are rude some of the staff.

My child is a 6th grader, and her first year. It looks like I'm gonna have to call a conference with all teachers. No communication from teachers, no emails (which rather have a note sent in book bag). Needs improvements n only been at this school 3months.

I really have a love/hate relationship with this school. The staff is friendly and professional. And the students (most of them) are diligent and excited to take control of their own learning via the academic model LGMS uses. Academically, LGMS is doing great things, but it proves a steep learning curve for students and parents alike. It's all project-based learning, which means the students work in groups on projects. They get LOTS of work! Some on the computer. Unless your child has homework, though, you won't know what they're working on. Each topic in each class has multiple projects from which to choose. The student chooses the one that appeals to him/her most. This means the student must be a self-starter and self-disciplined, because they are responsible for completing the work on time. If a child isn't the type to speak up when they need help (doesn't understand a concept), they can easily get left behind and have trouble catching up.It's my opinion that, because they're working in groups, there's no way the teacher can know whether the student is learning the material. If a student takes a test/quiz on the material & proves they haven't learned it, isn't that too late for the teacher to help that child? In other words, I don't understand HOW a teacher can assess learning BEFORE exam time. If a student is too afraid to ask for help; tends to work at a slower pace; or seems to be working, but really is just "appearing busy" (filling out papers but not understanding the material nor the instructions); then the teacher is clueless as to how each student is doing. Their Personalized and Project-Based Learning models are a failure in this respect. For the student who CAN be responsible for their own work AND is brave enough to ask for help, they'll excel at Locust Grove Middle. If your child is a self-starter, self-disciplined, and enjoys learning via computer, they'll love Academy, which is all computer learning & almost completely done from home.

They failed me for nothing, I am falling 3 classes because of them, in the beginning of the year they said that we are going to do academy that means we are going to do edgenuity on computers, then a few months later they started giving us projects after projects then they started giving us work sheets then when I was trying to catch up in my work they started to add stuff on edgenuity and it started being harder on me. Then I started falling again and I was struggling. Then I couldn't bring myself up, then I started failing 2 classes math and language arts . The thing is that I do get the work but I don't turn it in the work and I tried so hard in the second semester trying to do my work and edgenuity at the same time I used to have a 39 in math then it changed to a 51 I was getting closer because I did my edgenuity work for math, but it was maybe may 1 when I started working my game and turning everything in but it didn't work at the last day of school my sister told me that I was failing 3 classes math, language arts, and social studies my final exam grade brought me down 20 points in social studies so I had a 50 something I used to have a 78 but it went down so those are my reasons why I don't like locust grove middle school and If your wondering who this is my name is Keyanna Alysha Toussaint
