Twiggs County High School has several problems: 1. Out-of-control student behavior 2. Total lack of parental interest 3. Very low test scores, but a strictly enforced dress code (for show, I guess) 4. Religious references in staff meetings as well as between teachers during school hours, as well as discrimination against those who speak out against it...very backward-thinking 5. Obvious racial discrimination toward those not African American (also ties into the religious issue) 6. Teachers/Administration not of high quality...I imagine the good ones leave very quickly.

Twiggs County High School is the worst school system that I have ever experienced. Compared to my experiences in college, the school failed to offer any sort of academic challenges. During my first semester of college, I struggled every week to get the same grades that I was getting in high school. Most of my peers had GPA's well over 4.0 out of high school because of the AP classes that their school offered. Twiggs county offered only a couple of those classes. I was able to earn a 3.3 GPA during my first semester at the University of Georgia, but it was one of the hardest times of my life. I finally was able to teach myself how to study based on mentors and fellow students who decided to help me. My friends had easier times. Of course, a good portion of students came from private schools. Did Twiggs County help me get to where I am? Yes, only because it was a high school. I am where I am today because of my motivation and my family. Please, get your kids out! If this angers or disappoints anyone associated with the school, I am sorry, but you need to accept the truth that Twiggs County belongs where it has been for years...dead last.
