My child started Hubbard last year. She started 1st grade. We moved from Bibb County. She was behind on speech and learning. She could not read or write. They worked very hard with her. We even decided to hold her back to catch up. She has blossomed. She went from not be able to read, to reading chapter books. She writes short stories as well. They have been great ! She is now on a 3rd grade reading level.

First year, already had issues with teachers. Issues with school nurse. Issues with school counselor (both jobs are open for applications). Issues with administration. Looking at a different school for my kids. Possibly doing online school.

My son just started going to Hubbard and is in kindergarten, he started out a little behind in certain areas and they had him caught up within weeks. My son absolutely loves going to school and his teacher and teachers aid are absolutely wonderful. Best decision I ever made moving to Monroe county for the school system.

SEHE was so bad I withdrew my children and quit my job so I could home school them. The teachers I encountered were not child friendly! They were there for the paycheck and nothing else. My 5 year old son was so frightened by his kindergarten teacher that he ran out of the building and tried to scale a fence to get away from this place. My daughter's 1st grade teacher got an injury that prevented her from attending school and my daughter had 6 substitute teachers in 5 weeks. There is no chance for children to form any kind of necessary attachment to their teachers so they can be comfortable in their learning environment. In addition to complete instability, my 1st grader had a 95% in second grade Math and was failing Social Studies. When I asked them to switch the emphasis from Math to Social Studies so she could catch up and bring her grade up they refused. The administration will defend their teachers to the very end and ignore the needs of children no matter how detrimental it is to the student or their learning process. If you can afford private school, DO IT! If you can home school, DO IT! If you live in these district lines, I truly feel sorry for your children.

MCMS and SEHES kids have been transferred from place to place, school to school creating incredible instability. The deterioration of this system is markedly noticeable. Teachers are moved at will and their attitudes toward kids and teaching are simply terrible. Moving my kids to private school
