Columbia High School

My daughter attended Columbia Elementary for Pre-K in the 2024-2025 school year and it was a wonderful experience for all of us. The administration, faculty, and staff all impressed me, and I am grateful to them. The school is located in a beautiful little enclave of Decatur, and having it near my home has been a blessing. There is a lot of love at this school!

Lack of staffing.My daughter attended this school in:2nd grade (2023-24). Her teacher retired 2 months into the year, only to have various substitutes until the last 3 months of school where they finally placed a teacher who ended up retiring once the school year was complete.3rd grade (2024-) The initial teacher stopped showing up 2 months in and these children have been left without an adequate, CONSISTENT teacher for almost 3 months and counting.Unfortunately this is the ONLY elementary school in my “zoning area”. This school is full of shenanigans, doing a great disservice to its children. There is no PTA to voice my concerns, just a dismissive staff.Also, if whomever is reading this goes to this school, please be sure to check the employees ID badge. All though name badges are mandatory in EVERY school district, they seem to be either optional or hidden here. If unfamiliar, you’d NEVER be able to tell the difference between staff, parents, etc.

The principal needs to terminated. The school has no moral and very unsupported regarding parent volunteering.

My daughter goes too this school, and this school want’s money and this school is always getting into fights and teachers are yelling at these poor children they don’t deserve this and this school doesn’t even allow crocs? Whats going on yall have roaches 10 minutes of no talk time my daughter doesn’t even fell comfortable at this school . And uniforms too how is this a public and you have to wear uniforms and those launch ladys are VERY VERY disrespectful!! You guys need to think. My daughter wants to go too a new school now because yall are disrespectful and disgusting those bathrooms are very dirty and you need to let them do what they want.

I went to this school 8 years ago when I was in the 5th grade. I felt very unsafe, I felt like everyone treated me differently from the other students because of my skin color and my condition that I have. Everyone was rude and disrespectful towards me. I was too young to realize it at the time but as I got older I realized and remembered how badly everyone treated me, I never returned to that school after my first year attending 5th grade there, I ended up transferring to another state and another school and not wanting to attend that school ever again in my life. Also when I attended that school teachers admitted to my face that they didn't like me at all, and I don't know if it was because of my HDHD, my skin color, or how I behaved but I know that I was a loving and caring little girl who wanted to be nice and be friends with everyone. I am 19 years old now and a family member sent me a link to this website. I just wanted to give my review and comments.
