Read what parents are saying about East Paulding Middle SchoolTake caution if sending your child here. My son has been jumped in the bathroom by a gang, phone calls/emails are not answered or returned, and his IEP has been violated multiple times.A formal complaint has been filed but I want this to be public. My hope is that it will save your child the heart ache mine has had to endure.Mr. Alverson, the principal, doesn’t return calls, makes excuses, and doesn’t seem to care about the emotional well being of children. Please do research. There is a group on Facebook that uncovers it all. Other families sharing what they have had to endure while at EPMS.We hope that you are able to find an amazing school for your child! Best of luck!
Posted by a parent on 3/19/2023I have an 8th grader and 6th grader at EPMS. The 6th grader has struggled big time with being bullied and fitting in with peers. The 8th grader has done well his whole time. Teachers in all grades have been beyond AMAZING (with very few exceptions) for both kids.

Posted by a student on 6/6/2021I am a seventh grader at this school and i'm going to warn you why you shouldn't go to this poor excuse of a school. One the school is old and there is mold on the ceilings not very healthy. The classrooms are pretty humid and the eating doesn't work at all and in this time of the year it's really cold. Next the food you can't change much about that sub par. The students now this is where it gets bad the students say racist things, they degrade you, they make you feel incompetent about yourself, and honestly once the teachers sit down at their desk they ignore everything some kids will be fighting and the teachers won't notice. The discipline of this school is pretty poor the staff is practically blind. Another thing about the students they bully you constantly and they say its just a joke that honestly annoys me to another degree. If you aren't with the "cool kids" you are practically ignored and they constantly and i mean constantly insult you. It hurts alot but there are some people students who are kind and you can actually call them friends. The band you may as well go to another school if you want a good band unless your willing to play low level music( this part is purely opinion and should be taken lightly). Overall the building is in poor condition, the students are more or less rude and care nothing about you, the teachers know their stuff but can be quite a bit blind to stuff that happens in class, the library has pretty good books, and there are better schools for your child.
Posted by a student on 3/14/2018They seem to be fine as long as you don't have to talk to them. Trying to get a meeting with the principal is less likely then winning the lottery and I still have yet to meet the man. I have to resort to threats just to have meetings! And I mean lawsuit type threats. They wouldn't speak to me about a bully problem on the bus a few months ago because I'm just a step dad. I had to get a form filled out by my stepsons mother and notarized just so they would speak to me about a bully. And the best part is they called his mom thinking I faked the document and the notary stamp. And good luck getting your voicemails listen to and a call back. I had to resort to calling the Paulding County School District just so something would happen about the bullies. And still the school did not call us. The teachers seem good I like them and the bus driver is great my stepson loves his classes but the administration on the other hand is poor and that is putting it nicely.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids thrived at Mcgarity. They encourage family engagement often, teachers communicate with parents weekly and are always willing to answer questions and support my daughters’ learning. My children have always felt safe and welcomed there. The PTA is highly involved which I love seeing. They are STEM certified as well!Parent Review1mo ago - C. A. Roberts Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis used to be a great school. 5 years ago I loved it. The area was nice and the school was such a refreshing bonus. Fast forward a few years and the area is not as nice and this school is not nearly as good as it was. My child has had a few bullying issues, and I don’t feel like the situations were handled well and was very disappointed in what happened after I made the principal and teacher aware. The learning isn’t as good as it used to be either. The teachers are basically baby sitters and spend most of their time during the day telling kids to stop acting up. Discipline at home isn’t what it used to be so it’s not all the schools fault for that. The school does offer quite a bit of after school activities and clubs. The PTA has put on a lot of activities for the kids. All the schools in this district are over capacity and the districts solution is to build a new middle school. There are trailers in the front yards of a lot of the schools and it looks so trashy. Paulding county itself is becoming way too overpopulated and we don’t have the school capacity to hold all the kids coming in. Instead of adding onto the schools we already have we are just building another school. I’m really disappointed with how this area has turned out. The schools suffer when there are so many kids and nowhere for them to go.Parent Review4mo ago - Vaughan Elementary School
