The kids are among the most interesting, caring, and clever human beings in our community.

The principal did not support an IEP. Our experience was awful trying to get our child’s IEP to be followed. There was zero support from the principal so the staff cannot help because he directs them. I had to get the school board involved ultimately leaving the school because even then the principal did not support the IEP. Not sure what the principal’s background or education is, but he clearly does not seem to understand how to work with children that have disabilities or to run an inclusive school or know about the Americans with disabilities act. Our experience there was that there more interest in constant fundraising for the school and lack of interests to support actual education.

A great place for kids! I have 2 kids attending the school and I love it! We are very pleased to be part of the Summerlake family! Awesome staff, caring teachers, kids got plenty of activities and are encouraged to be their best!

Positive reviews here are clearly just designed to distill what really is happening at Hamlin. They negate the reality that some children, particularly those who need support the most, can fall through the cracks here. Families should approach with caution and ask very clear questions about how students are supported in practice, not just in policy. Our experience with Hamlin School raises serious concerns about how the school supports their students.Students are plainly not recieving consistent or meaningful support. What is required in structured strategies, understanding, and continuity is instead met by minimal adjustments and a largely reactive approach. Behaviors linked to students' needs were too often treated as problems to manage rather than signals to understand. This follows a sliperry slope for many students at Hamlin: limited intervention, poor follow-through, and a gradual shift from support to exclusion. The outcome was not resolution but removal handled in a way that felt administrative rather than child-centred; going against what children need in these crucial age groups. The issue is not about one child, but about consistency. When support breaks down so clearly in one case, it calls into question how robust that support is in general. In our experience, it did not hold up.
