Horizon West Middle School

Poor communication, lack of genuine care from teachers and principals. Concerns are not taken seriously. The teachers and staff I have come across are below expectations.

The worst school ever… it’s all about money. They will try to get more money and they don’t care about your feelings. They will charge you to get in and they will send you another bill if you need to get out. Be careful!!!!

The principal did not support an IEP. Our experience was awful trying to get our child’s IEP to be followed. There was zero support from the principal so the staff cannot help because he directs them. I had to get the school board involved ultimately leaving the school because even then the principal did not support the IEP. Not sure what the principal’s background or education is, but he clearly does not seem to understand how to work with children that have disabilities or to run an inclusive school or know about the Americans with disabilities act. Our experience there was that there more interest in constant fundraising for the school and lack of interests to support actual education.

It is sad when both the staff and principal are incompetent!

A great place for kids! I have 2 kids attending the school and I love it! We are very pleased to be part of the Summerlake family! Awesome staff, caring teachers, kids got plenty of activities and are encouraged to be their best!

My daughter has been attending Castleview for five years and we love this school. The teachers have all been great. There are so many activities for the kids to be involved in like running club, Dragon Scales, and drama club. We are really lucky to have the teachers and staff that we do because it's their extra effort which supports these great programs. My daughter is in the two way dual language program learning Spanish. Not many schools in OCPS offer this program so we feel really lucky that we are zoned for a school that offers this.
