Everglades Elementary School

The previous principal was very involved, warm, amazing and created a positive and thriving environment that motivated and supported children and teachers and families in such a positive manner and welcomed diversity in so many ways. Students were really encouraged to "be the 3", helping them to take pride in themselves, and encouraged them to act morally with all others- which alleviated bullying, discrimination and reckless behaviors. Now it seems kids feel a little liberated to act out without repercussions or feeling bad about it- lacking moral compass at school. Gifted program was great before- a lot of engaging truly gifted projects and truly gifted learning, some teachers retired, and now kids are pressured on test scores- so more focus on academics testing. Truly gifted students need all different types of support. Kids should have a fun learning environment in elementary with innovative approaches to teaching. This is still a very good school, but a lot of parents I know applied for other school options this upcoming year. Hopefully the new principal can settle in and continue to extend warmth and care and an increased positive involvement for all- teachers, students, families- to continue this school's legacy!

I’m very disappointed with our experience. I would not recommend this school, especially if you are not part of a wealthy background. It often feels like they prioritize money above everything else.There are constant additional fees and payments required, and it becomes overwhelming. The school also puts a lot of pressure on young children with excessive testing just to move on to elementary levels.What concerns me most is how they handle students who may need extra support. Instead of working with the child in the classroom, parents are pushed toward paying for outside services like OT. If you don’t agree, it feels like your child may be labeled unfairly or treated differently.It’s sad to say, but the environment does not feel inclusive or supportive. The focus seems to be more on financial gain than on the well-being and development of the children.

I worked at this school and experienced concerns related to workplace treatment, communication, and administrative handling of employee matters. During my time there, I also had concerns regarding fairness in how workplace issues were addressed and how reporting and disciplinary processes were handled.There were additional concerns raised during my employment regarding compensation practices, workplace communication, and how staff concerns were received and responded to. These experiences created a challenging and stressful work environment.As a member of the Seventh-day Adventist community, I expected a workplace culture consistent with fairness, respect, and integrity. Based on my personal experience, I would encourage others—especially educators and families—to carefully evaluate how workplace concerns are handled and addressed within the institution before making decisions about employment or affiliation.

As a longtime parent at The King’s Academy, I write this review with a heavy heart. While the school’s campus is beautiful and well-funded, families should be aware that students who struggle—academically or emotionally—often receive little support and are treated with discouragement rather than compassion.We paid thousands for a “Learning Strategies” program that provided no meaningful help and instead instilled fear and anxiety in our child. Students with learning differences, including autism, face rigid behavior contracts and a punitive environment. Despite reaching out for help multiple times, including to the head of school, we were ignored and ultimately received a cold letter withdrawing our student without warning.TKA frequently speaks the name of Jesus, but our experience did not reflect a Christ-centered culture. If your child doesn’t fit their narrow mold, be prepared for disappointment. I hope the administration reconsiders its approach and begins to truly support all students, not just those who fit a perfect image.
