Read what parents are saying about Maximo Elementary SchoolThe administration is careless, mostly absent and pretty much no care for the students. The participation from parents is little to known existing, which makes it harder for parents like myself. Unfortunately, most of the children are from low-income families and the care for the students education is lacks. There are some good teachers at this school, but the bad defiantly out ways the good. would never recommend this school to my worse enemy.
Posted by a parent on 5/10/2022This school is amazing! I have only been teaching here since 2015, but I truly love working here. Please do not believe all of the negative commentary. Instead, stop by and see for yourself how special our students and staff really are! http://www.pcsb.org/Page/19253

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePCSB is a discriminatory and unethical education system and I feel bad for any teacher that works there because your constitutional rights don't apply and they use the union against teachers. They violated FMLA law and discriminated while i was employed there. I still have no job because I stood up to them, and they decided to bully me for having primary progressive Multiple sclerosis. If they do this to their school counselor, who else do they do this to?Teacher Review4y ago - Lakeview Fundamental Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy family was very excited when we were accepted unfortunately, it was short lived. The teachers are very hard on the students. The homework load is absolutely insane. My son had nothing but issues with his teacher who made it clear her job was to provide parents with the materials to teach their kids. She tried saying my son was behind in math but was previously suggested to skip a grade due to high math and reading levels. He ended up testing at one of the highest levels in the state. She didn’t seem to care very much nor know my child at all. My scholar who loved school since preschool who was doing math on the sidewalk at age 2 was severely let down and he would beg me not to make him go to school. It was incredibly disheartening. My daughter who has an IEP ended up doing well this year but that’s mostly because I spent 4hours a night working with her. At the beginning of the year her special education teacher told me she was just lazy and wouldn’t accommodate lazy kids. (She was in 5th at a 2nd grade level) at the end of the year I begged for retention I was told flat out that I could try and fight it with the superintendent but they would not call retention. In the state of Florida you have to pass a third grade exam to move to 4th at the time she was still at a second grade level (we moved to Florida in 4th) I asked them to give her that exam to prove she was ready they again said no. The principal was so unhelpful. The only person we liked was her 5th grade teacher who happened to be the only person willing to advocate for her. I wouldn’t recommend this school to my worst enemy.Parent Review9mo ago - Alegria Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTwo kids at Alegria: our first, from age 3, and our second from age 1. Alegria has provided us an extraordinary preschool and elementary school experience. Excellent academics, paced according to the child's needs -- in our case, accelerating and providing additional challenge in key areas such as math and language. The communication and social emotional skills our children have developed as a result of the cooperative coaching and grace/courtesy curriculum are outstanding. Additionally, the bilingual approach to learning, led by native speaking Spanish teachers, has been excellent. The children speak Spanish confidently and with the affinity that comes from dual language immersion. The school is relatively small which provides pros and cons -- you might want more amenities and sports facilities than the school can provide. We've found that the quality of the teachers and the educational resources more than make up for the lack of basketball hoops and tracks. Also, the school makes use of the local swimming pool and a third-party soccer coaching team, plus there is ample playground/recess time provided. All in all, a wonderful school with caring, good hearted families who are passionate about outstanding education.Parent Review6y ago - Alegria Montessori School
