Read what parents are saying about Shady Hills Elementary SchoolIt’s an average school with teacher turnover that’s average so there is a mixture of inexperience and experience which will effect your child’s results. The school building is fine and the employees (teachers and such) are kind. The teachers would do well to not tolerate disrespect from children.
Posted by a parent on 2/9/2023My grandson goes to this school through school choice program. He thrives here and is part of the gifted program. The teachers here recognize student's strengths and weaknesses and work with the student and family to promote student success. The staff and administration are accessible and student safety is a priority.
Posted by a parent on 7/21/2018I have had 2 children in Shady Hills. The teachers I have had experience with have been great. This is a very low income area and much of the homework is beyond the capabilities of family help. The teachers work hard and actively work to educate the children. I think some of the problem is at the district and state level. All in all, I rate this school and it's staff as great.
Posted by a parent on 9/19/2017Went here when I was little, now my 3 children go here and they absolutely love it! The staff is amazing and the improvements that were made are amazing as well. Wouldn't pick any other school for my children to attend!
Posted by a parent on 8/10/2017This was the first year of public school for my child. I thought they were very helpful. Mr Barker the principal, was kind and accomodating to the needs of my child. Her teacher was awesome and my girl loves her. I am very happy with her first year there... I will see how it goes for the next 5.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school needs more recent reviews so that parents know what’s going on. The school is struggling with their scores. They are behind Pasco county education standards and it’s sad. My daughter made honor roll every grading period at this school. They barely taught anything grade level and consistently taught previous year material due to majority of the class not being on grade level or able to read. We moved back to Pasco county and they are saying my daughter is not on grade level and scored a level 1 on reading and math assessments. How is an honor roll student not on grade level? That should tell you everything you need to know about this school. I knew my daughter was in trouble when hw assignments consisted of writing vocabulary words in rainbow colors and learning previous grade math work. In second grade you should be learning multiplication and division and they did not teach it. Now she’s in third grade and is expected to know the material and she does not. This school has failed my daughter and many others. Hernando county has the worst schools and it’s no wonder that the test scores are BAD! The teacher told me that there were children in the class (second grade) that could not read! She said she was so happy that my daughter could read so she can focus on the other students who could not. What a shame! I supplemented through the school year with a IXL program but clearly it was not enough since the school was teaching first grade material to a second grade class. Keep your kids away from this school and any other Hernando county school. The only way these kids have a chance is by remaining in this district because the education standard is LOW so they won’t have to worry about being behind. However, if they leave this district and go to another one, you will see that they are in fact behind and not on grade level. Run!Parent Review7mo ago - Faith Christian Academy
