Deep Creek Elementary School

My two oldest sons attended this school for one year, which was all I needed because it was clearly not the teaching environment I hoped for. First off, my youngest was in Kindergarten and though he struggled in the area of reading, I was told he needed to keep up with other students. When I contacted the school I told them we were seeking a tutor and of the school had an options for low income families. There wasn't and they were highly expensive. Secondly my son was the smallest in the class and often picked on. Three times he was pushed to the ground and had nose bleeds. The last time before the end of the school year I got call from the nurse telling me that she couldn't stop the bleeding and advised me to take him to the ER. My son told me during recess he was pushed to the ground by a much bigger child and his face hit the pavement. In The end, we moved away and made the decision to home school which was the best decision I made because he became a proficient reader that summer. The school never spoke to me about these incidences.

This is a great school! My daughter has started kindergarten this year & she absolutely loves DCE! She loves her friends & her teachers, she talks about all the nice teachers she meets daily. I'm so happy that she adjusted so well going to a new school after being at the same Childcare 5yrs prior. I love reading all the notices about activities & special events going on at the school almost bi-weekly in her planner. I also like how they encourage all families to be involved.

I'm am so happy my kids have left the school because the school is very bad because it all about the teachers. One summer the teacher took away my child's water bottle for the whole day in the middle of August when the sun is so hot and gave him no water to drink. I wouldn't recommend no one to go that school with that principal.

Not organised with parents drop off and parent pick up. Huge traffic! For deep creek walkers even worse. They don't let kids walk when it's lightening, but they do let walk on terrible cold rain!!! My 1 grade kid have lunch about at 1 pm! Way too late! Started school at August 10th! Way too soon! Winter break 2 weeks. Way too long. And plus 2 days no school right after 2 weeks winter break! And it doesn't say on planner! How parents can know? Only on a morning, when you get to school and there is no classes! So upsetting!!! And office is saying: you should receive a paper on mail, saying there is no school. And no papers were sended!!!

Excellent school! I've had kids there for 5 years now and would highly recommend it. The new principal and vice principal are an amazing team! The teachers and entire staff all truly care about their students and do an excellent job educating our children. They go above and beyond to make learning a fun experience! Great, quiet neighborhood too.
