3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has changed within the years. Twice our child has come home with injuries and no one called during the day. Then you have teachers that are punishing kids for ridiculous things and taking it off their grade and I'm not talking about talking in class. There is also been bullying against a female student. The teacher did nothing about it. Also we I never notified early as far as pictures are any events going on at the school. As soon as possible we are moving two kids from this school.Parent Review2mo ago6 Reviews - Oakcrest Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter went to Sherwood Elementary from 1998 to 2001, and had a great experience. The school was old, but clean, and not run down, and dirty like it is now. I recently attended grandparents day to have lunch, and attend the book fair with my grandchild. I didn't expect lunch to be good, so no surprises there. The children served themselves hot food of their choice, not always the best choices, onto flimsy styrofoam plates, and miraculously made it to their tables with out the need of cleanup from the disgusting mop bucket full of black water in the main walkway in the cafeteria! My grandchild's kindergarten teacher is by far the greatest disappointment. The children have no desks, and no appointed seating at all. They have stations that they just migrate to, and basically do as they please. The rooms decor is rundown, and dirty. Not bright, and colorful to spark imagination, and learning. Her teacher was an ill tempered woman that sat at her table filled with "stuff" and yelled at the children that she was "Fixing to have to take away points if they didn't shut up. You are supposed to be reading not talking in reading group." I left this once loved school with tears in my eyes, and pain in my heart knowing that my grandchildren have to attend this school. 2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is working hard at improving the school's community. I believe Holly Magee is working toward student improvements both socially and academically, and wants to see the community change in the same way. She is using her resources and energy effectively in doing so. The school recently went from an F to a C grade, and it was the combined efforts of admin and staff that saw such drastic improvements. I believe with time and energy and community involvement, the school will only continue to improve.Teacher Review8y ago4 Reviews - Marcus Pointe Christian School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student, DO NOT GO HERE. I wasted 8 years of my life here. There are policies against being a homosexual or a trans person. Teachers would often talk bad about those people TO THEIR STUDENTS. They would influence the students to be just as hateful as them. Teachers would also try to promote their own views, such as abortion. In sixth grade, the history, science, and math teacher was trying to convince the girls in our class to never get an abortion. The same teacher also talked bad about a presidential candidate and tried to make the children's political views align with his own. The school is also insanely influenced by purity culture. Additionally, you would expect it to have religious aspects because its a Christian school, and it does. However, the religious aspect COMPLETELY takes over the actual educational aspect. "Bible" is a required class all throughout kindergarten and elementary. I think its also required in 7th-12th grade. Bible tests and quizzes are required, without an actual way to study for them. The school says to be Christian, which means it should include all the Christian denominations, but it's really more of a Baptist school. Teachers would often talk bad about Catholics and other religions. In conclusion, do not go here if you are a normal person and don't want to waste your time as a student or have your child's views influenced. I am speaking from experience here. Thank you.Other Review6mo ago42 Reviews
