Read what parents are saying about Shenandoah Elementary SchoolMy son’s academic growth has been excellent here but as we are here for longer I’m starting to see personally and hear from others about some negative experiences. In first grade I literally never received a positive comment regarding my son but got short negative comments home frequently. It wasn’t until I reached out for a conference that I told how much he was excelling and that his behaviors were actually not that bad. From what I was told in these notes I would have thought he was disrupting class constantly. He had started thinking of himself as a bad kid, even though I had never received any negative comments on his behavior previously. I’ve also seen and spoke with other parents about negative behavior from some teachers - including yelling, bullying or belittling comments. Shenandoah has many wonderful attributes including many great teachers and offerings with extended day program, as well as teachers who go above and beyond to create amazing afterschool events and opportunities for the kids. The SRO knows every child by name and I have no concerns about my child’s safety. It’s just that my view has become less glowing as I see more of the daily behaviors of some teachers.

Posted by a community member on 3/23/2023They have an Exceptional Student Educational team for the students that need them. The last school grade was an "A" from the year 2018-2019. They have been doing a good job with the students. The parents should find a series of books for their student to read during the summer. Let them create some artwork to go with it. Also, review all the math that they learned for the year so they are ready when the next school year starts. You will be happy!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child was injured on their 6th day attending. I've demanded an incident report in regards to the matter, only for everyone to COWER behind their clipboards. I've contacted the risk management team, Maria Vazquez, and even Rocky Hanna. I'm sick of being given the run around all in the name of hurricane Ian generating a backlog of paperwork. How hard can it be to complete one incident report and render it unto me!? These impudent fools believe that this lack of transparency will only seek to protect them from liability. Yet, instead it only solidifies their intent to put their students AT RISK at the cost of tax payer money. To them, children are only bodies to meet their budget.Parent Review1y ago - Durrance Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAt this school you get remarks every single day if your child is different and needs more attention, little hard to handle cause he already knows what they're trying to teach him so he gets bored. Instead of moving him to the next level, challenge him and support him to get the best of him; they make him feel guilty and bad even in kindergarten! I'm glad I enrolled him in a private school where they were amazed by his level and moved him to the next grade! Hope they will change their strategy, the way they treat students and find solutions to get the best of their students instead of punishments and warnings........Parent Review1y ago - Pershing Elementary School
