As a recent graduate who went to Forest City Adventist School for a few years, and as student that did very well academically, I wanted to leave an honest review. I know there are a lot of negative reviews out there, but as someone who practically grew up in this building, I think the school itself is wonderful, even if it isn't perfect.Being an introvert, the environment here was a huge plus for me. The small classrooms, short transition times between periods, and the fact that there aren't too many people made it feel safe and manageable. It really allowed me to focus on my education without feeling overwhelmed by the massive crowds you find at other schools. The teachers, for the most part, are great. They are genuinely kind, love having open discussions, and always take time to answer questions. Coming from a minority background, I also really appreciated that the staff is inclusive and respectful, which isn't always the case at other schools. The Christian aspect is a major part of the culture here in a really good way. We had chapel every Friday and occasional Weeks of Prayer, which kept the community grounded. Our principal is also great! She takes bullying very seriously, just like any good principal should. The main reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to two things: the student culture and the academic preparation in certain subjects.Honestly, I thought about leaving multiple times, but it was never because of the school—it was because of my classmates. A lot of them were immature and disrespectful. They would constantly bug the teachers, wouldn't do their work correctly, and cheated with AI many times. While the teachers addressed it and the principal occasionally punished them, I didn't feel like it was enough to stop the disruptions. It was frustrating for students who actually wanted to learn. Academically, science was barely taught in middle school, and we had few tests, which made me a little nervous for high school workloads. However, I felt incredibly prepared for high school in areas like language arts, reading, and math. My MAP scores consistently increased here, and I scored very high on my Stanford 10 test, proving the school gives you an amazing academic foundation if you actually put in the work. FCAS is a great school with a solid spiritual foundation, and I highly recommend it.
