Read what parents are saying about Scott Lake Elementary SchoolHIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL! The staff of teachers is one of the best (if not the best) in the area. The care and attention they give to my son, by far exceeds any of our expectations. The school provides a safe, loving and secure environment. My son absolutely loves attending this school. (We’re moving and he doesn’t want to leave just because of this school)He has honestly learned so much the two years he has been here. The teachers really take their time to teach and elevate each student. My sons test scores are insanely high. Dr. McKinney, the principal, dedicates her life to this school, and it shows. I highly recommend the Great Scott Lake. “Chugga Chugga….Choo Choo”

Posted by a parent on 1/20/2023In the beginning, I loved Scott Lake. I thought they were doing a great job with my daughter. She attended the Montessori program, maybe that’s why she did so well. Because I thought she did well, I wanted her sister to attend the same as her, so I didn’t have to drop off and pick up them from different schools. I chose Scott Lake over Parkway, because I saw how they were interacting with the students and making learning fun for them. I went through the region office to get my daughter transferred there, and they approved her, but when we got there to register her, the principal (Dr McKinney) was so mean. I had never seen the type of attitude she displayed that day from her before, maybe it’s because I didn’t need to go to the office for anything since she became the principal. The worst part was that my daughter witnessed it. I thought she enjoyed her job and enjoyed helping the children to learn. I believe once she saw my baby report card, and because it wasn’t all A’s, she refused to accept her at her school. I thought the Region office has the last word on when it comes to the decisions to transfer a student or not. I really didn’t fight it, because I didn’t want no one to mistreat my kids because of it. I was very hurt and disappointed, because I really wanted my kids to attend a good school together, but I was shown the truth. All that school care about is their reputation, not putting in the work to teach a child. They want that child to already be smart, so they could get the credit for teaching them. The look on her face when she refused to accept my child that day was a look of disgust. I will never forget that experience. I tried to, but I can’t. She made me feel like my child was not smart enough to attend her school.
Posted by a parent on 9/21/2022This school was by far the worst I have ever had to deal with. Some of the staff is really nice but the select that I have had the chance of running into are not the most pleasant individuals. My child came into this school with high test scores and left with lowered scores and self esteem issues. The office staff looks at you when you walk in almost as if you are disrupting them from doing nothing. The audacity of you to come in and inquire about your child. For a greater part of the school year the kitchen had issues so the kids were not eating warm lunches. This school needs a massive makeover internally to match it external. Ms. Broadhurst of "The Girls of Distinction" is one of the sweetest people at that school. She knew how to build rapport with her girls and their parents. She understood everyday is a new day. I wish her and the program nothing but success.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery good school, good environment, nice hard-working teachers & staff, well-organzied. They also have different sports & clubs for the students/parents in which many other elementary schools do not have such as dance, basketball, cheerleading, etc. The security guards are also very alert and keeps a safe environment for the students, staff, and parents.Parent Review9y ago - Parkway Elementary School
